Audi had an phenomenal year in the demanding DTM. Mike Rocknefeller won the drivers' title and Audi Sport Team Phoenix Racing clinched the teams' title. The Four Rings narrowly missed the manufacturers' title. Great racing all season long with epic battles against the arch rivals from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
A look back to a great 2013 season in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters with this emotional video from the official Audi Deutschland channel on Youtube. Enjoy!
Round four of the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships (VSCRC) took place at Phillip Island this weekend, it was the finale of this Australian series. Melbourne Performance Centre took part with customer Audi R8 LMS cars.
Melbourne Performance Centre had been seen testing Audi R8 LMS cars for two new customers in recent weeks. The two cars are for two new customers, Robert Marshall and Steven McLaughlan. They took part in various test sessions at Phillip Island, where Robert Marshall unfortunately rolled his #22 MPC Audi R8 LMS a few weeks ago, but it has been repaired.
Three cars were entered for the fourth VSCRC round: the #75 R8 LMS of McLaughlan (JAMEC PEM Racing), the #22 of Marshall (PIARC), and the #79 R8 LMS of Ockert Fourie (Ockert Fourie Dental), who had debuted his green R8 LMS in the VSCRC earlier in the year. Robert Marshall was on the entry list and overall results, but he did not take part in the races this weekend.
The Audi R8 LMS cars were entered in the VSCRC Sports Cars class. Steven McLaughlan arrived at Phillip Island in the thick of the fight for the Sports Cars championship title. During qualifying McLaughlan achieved a front row starting position, by qualifying in second place, followed by Fourie in twenty-second.
The first race concluded with Steven McLaughlan finishing third, taking a podium on his debut with his Audi. Ockert Fourie recovered up to seventeenth position.
The second and final race saw victory going to Steven McLaughlan in his #75 Audi R8 LMS. He won the race convincingly and also took the overall win for the weekend. Ockert Fourie finished eleventh and placed fourteenth overall for the weekend. These results were enough to crown Steven McLaughlan as the 2013 VSCRC Sports Cars champion, after having campaigned in his older Viper and now in his Audi R8 LMS at the final round.

Paul Ricard in southern France is hosting the season finale of the French GT Tour series. Five Audi R8 LMS ultra are on site from Team Speed Car and Sainteloc Racing.
Race 1 already held this afternoon gave the Audi squad satisfactions. Team Speed Car finished the 1-hour event in a strong fourth overall. The #36 Audi R8 LMS ultra shared by Vincent Abril and Dino Lunardi started from fifteenth place and was able to fight for the top spots. In the closing stages of the race the Audi had a great fight with the Hexis Racing McLaren MP4-12C.
Sainteloc Racing is entering no less than four Audi R8 LMS ultra cars at the Castellet this weekend. Best of the Sainteloc Racing Audis was the #82 car. Matthieu Jaminet and Marc Sourd recovered very well on track. They started from position twenty-five and finished in a positive eigth place.
The #43 Audi R8 LMS ultra from Sainteloc Racing had a very special guest. Stephane Ortelli joined the team sharing the car with Romain Monti. The two drivers finished the race in seventeenth place. Unfortunately the #83 and the #42 Audi R8 LMS ultra did not finish the race.
Race victory went the the #5 BMW Z4 GT3 from TDS Racing. Second the #62 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 from HTP Motorsport. Third the #17 McLaren MP4-12C from Hexis Racing.
The 2013 VLN Endurance Championship came to a close at the Nürburgring this weekend. Many Audi teams competed and performed very well with more victories.
A total of nine Audis were entered. The SP9 class (GT3) included three Audi R8 LMS ultra cars. The #44 Audi R8 LMS ultra from Twin Busch Motorsport was back after their victory at the previous round with Marc and Dennis Busch. They were joined by a two-car entry from Phoenix Racing. The #15 Audi R8 LMS ultra was driven by Frank Stippler, Ferdinand Stuck and Johannes Stuck, and their #37 entry by Marc Basseng, Laurens Vanthoor and Christian Mamerow.
Four Audi Sport customer racing / Raeder developed Audi TT RS cars were entered. One of these cars was entered in the SP4T class, the #249 entry with Robb Holland, Ng Charles and 2012 WTCC champion, Rob Huff. The remaining three TT RS cars were all entered in the SP3T class: the #331 from Raeder Motorsport, the #334 from Møller Bil Motorsport and the #290. Two more Audi TTS cars were also entered in SP3T.
Qualifying saw an Audi on pole position. The #37 Audi R8 LMS ultra took pole with Marc Basseng behind the wheel, followed by the #15 Phoenix Audi in third. Twin Busch Motorsport qualified sixteenth with their #44 R8 LMS ultra. Rotek Racing took pole in the SP4T class and Raeder Motorsport took pole in SP3T, with Rotek and Raeder placing seventeenth and eighteenth overall respectively.
The race itself got underway with tricky wet conditions, but it soon began to dry. Phoenix Racing led from the front with the #37 Audi. By the end of the four hours the #37 Phoenix Racing crew brought their Audi across the line for victory at the final 2013 VLN race. They were followed by the #44 Twin Busch Motorsport Audi R8 LMS ultra in fourth place. The #15 Phoenix Racing Audi finished twenty-fifth, after loosing time in the pits, whilst they had been battling up at the front of the race.
The #290 TT RS took the SP3T victory and Rotek Racing was the highest placed SP4T runner, despite retiring from the race.
This VLN round concluded the 2013 VLN Endurance Championship, a season which saw class and overall race victories for the Audi teams.
Good news from Germany and team MS Racing. The 2012 ADAC GT Masters champions are about to return to the series and again with Audi. MS Racing joined the Audi squad this year and entered a pair of Audi R8 LMS ultra cars in the demanding German GT3 series. The team had some ups and downs throughout the season. The finished ninth overall in the teams' standing. In the drivers' standing Sebastian Asch and Florian Stoll ended in eighteenth place with the #1 Audi R8 LMS ultra. Their teammates Aditya Patel and Daniel Dobitsch were classified twenty-eighth with the #100 Audi R8 LMS ultra. Highlight of the 2013 was the positive performances in the final race of the season at Hockenheim where both team's cars finished within the top 7.
The driver line-ups for the 2014 ADAC GT Masters are not announced yet. Still MS Racing is eager to bounce back and perform well working with Audi Sport customer racing in one of the most demanding GT field worldwide.
Yoong wins after intense battle between the front five cars
Adderly Fong keeps championship alive with second place
Cheng Congfu extends contract for 2014 Audi R8 LMS Cup
Shanghai, October 26, 2013 – Malaysian racing star Alex Yoong tightened his grip on the 2013 R8 LMS Cup championship with victory in Round 9 in Shanghai, China. Leading from start to finish, Yoong now extends his lead at the top to 17 points ahead of Hong Kong's Adderly Fong with two races of the season left. In an intense race, the top five drivers remained merely seconds apart at the Shanghai Audi International Circuit.
"Alex Yoong had a brilliant outing and is now in an excellent position for the championship. Tomorrow could be the decisive race", says Rene Koneberg, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. "The race underlined the competitive nature of our speed-race series. We will continue to work with the best drivers of the region. It was a great pleasure for me today to announce the extension of the contract of "Franky" Cheng Congfu as our Audi factory driver for the 2014 season."
Cheng commented: "It has been great to join the series and next year I clearly will try to win it". The Chinese star driver got off to an exciting start to round 9, moving behind polesitter Yoong into second place from fourth on turn one. He was followed closely up the inside line on the same corner by Fong, who jumped from fifth to third position and reignited his championship hopes. Last year's Audi R8 LMS Cup champion, Marchy Lee, fell back to sixth position, as drivers jockeyed for positions early on.
In lap 9, Yoong and Cheng came together, when the Chinese racer tried to make a move up the inside after a backmarker had slowed the leading Yoong. The incident allowed Fong to pass Cheng and settle into second position behind Yoong, who maintained his lead until the end of the race.
After racing for Audi in Europe during the summer, Rahel Frey marked her return to the series with a consistent drive, first battling Fong and then Cheng. Ultimately she was unable to make it on to the podium, finishing fourth just hundreds of a second behind Cheng and followed closely by 2012 champion Lee.
In the Amateur Class, Alex Au's six-race winning streak came to an end with his gentleman racer rival, Eric K, taking the top spot after an intense and close-fought battle throughout the entire race.
Moving into round 10 on Sunday, Yoong tops the leaderboard with 167 points, 17 points ahead of second place Fong. If Yoong wins tomorrow's race and Fong fails to capture second, Yoong would secure the overall title for the 2013 Audi R8 LMS Cup before the final race in Macau on November 10.
Alex Yoong:
"The race wasn't easy; the top five cars all pretty much had the same pace. Franky [Cheng Congfu] was quicker than me in some sections and kept fighting. When I closed on the backmarker, it gave him an opportunity to put me under pressure.
As soon as I got out of the car I started thinking about tomorrow. Because the race was so tight between the top five, tomorrow's first lap will have to be perfect, and then the second, and the third, right until the finish."
Adderly Fong:
"The red flag made a difference in my ability to put in a good qualifying time. So I tried to push from the start, luckily in the first corner the front cars left the inside line and I managed to get up to third. Tomorrow starting from sixth will be difficult. I will have to drive fast and take chances."
'Franky' Cheng Congfu:
"I am really excited by the opportunity to race with Audi again next year. This year has been one where I have learnt a lot with the Audi R8 LMS Cup. Unfortunately I missed two races this season so I can't fight for the championship, but next year I will be here every race and aim for the number one spot."
Eric K:
"It was a tough race, Alex [Au] has had a good year and he is a very good driver. Today in some sections he was quicker and in some sectors I was. Some laps I made mistakes and some laps he made mistakes, this made for an exciting battle"
Marchy Lee:
"Remaining the champion will be extremely difficult now. The rest of the season is really about focusing on each race, about ensuring I finish second overall. However, this is, of course, not what I was aiming for at the start of the season. Last year I was very good, this year Yoong has been better. Yet, I will fight for each of the coming races, tomorrow, and in Macau."

The 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show is currently taking place in South Africa. Engen has a very nice display at their stand, along with Terry Moss Racing who are sponsored by Engen.
Terry Moss Racing and Engen Xtreme have a number of Audi related components present as part of their display at the show. The Engen stand is housed inside of the Allied Industry hall at the show, hall nine. Outside of the hall there is a Terry Moss Racing / Engen Xtreme show car on display. It is a show car based on the team’s older Audi A4 B7 3.2 quattro race cars, which use to compete in the South African Bridgestone Production Car Championship.
A very intriguing lights display was on offer at the Engen stand. A white 1:1 half Audi S4 model was part of the lights display, which displayed various images on the car during a video clip, depicting the Audi S4 livery of Michael Stephen’s Audi S4 race car. A video of the lights feature has been included below:
Current championship points leader, Michael Stephen, was also on hand at both the Engen and official Audi South Africa stands this week, to autograph posters for race fans. This begins a very big and busy week for Stephen. He travels home to Port Elizabeth on Sunday, only to return to Johannesburg later in the week for the finale of the South African Bridgestone Production Car Championship at Kyalami next weekend, where he is poised to take his third consecutive Class A drivers’ title.

Post-argumentalism in action, folks. I don't waste time with these people, and neither should you. We should keep the "meta-conversation" with feminism on point and on topic, always. Click on the graphic to make it bigger:
All right, if you wish to chart the swirling tensions and complexities within the community of those who don't like feminism, check the latest from Bernard Chapin. You will find it to be a useful snapshot of the present historical moment:
A couple of points I will briefly note here. First point: BC is right on the money when he suggests that utopian thinking is bad, bad, nasty stuff that will only bring us grief.
Second point: Nothing could please me more than to see people of the political left turning against feminism - which, in growing numbers, they are indeed doing!
And you know what else? I am more than willing to at least chew the fat with those people. Foe of my foe, and all that sort of thing. I am a total conversation whore, and I will sit down for a li'l old chit-chat with anybody I please. Misogynists, feminists, left-wing, right-wing, druggies, saints, sinners, holy-rollers, anarchists, atheists, stiffnecks, rednecks, hard-asses, fat-asses - you name it! I don't mind saying that I have rubbed shoulders with some right colorful critters in my day, and I have learned a lot from the experience.
A couple of weeks ago, Martin Fiebert (famous for his bibliography of academic studies which debunk feminist domestic violence claims) was a guest on AVfM radio. I hope you had a chance to listen to it.
So here's a double-whammy. My personal favorite among DV researchers, Dr. Donald Dutton of the University of British Columbia, will be a guest on the show tomorrow with Erin Pizzey. I don't plan to miss this episode, and I hope you don't either:

THE final round of the Super Series takes place at Kyalami on Saturday, 2 November. The four Audi S4 quattros entries are poised to make a strong showing at this event – with the defending champion in this series leading the charge.
For Michael Stephen (A1 – Engen Xtreme) the Kyalami finale sees him defend his title for a third possible championship victory. Stephen first claimed the title in 2011 behind the wheel of his Audi S4 quattro and successfully defended it in 2012. For 2013 he enters the last round of the season with a 31 point advantage over the rest of the field and a determination to take the win again.
With a championship at stake, the event is set to be a tough affair with every racer determined to put on their best performance of the season.
For Gennaro Bonafde (A32 – Ferodo Racing) a good performance at the final round is critical. Currently fourth overall in the championship, Bonafede is within striking distance of third place overall for the season. A strong showing in the final event could see him claim that third step on the podium to become one of the top three racers in the Bridgestone Production Car Championship for 2013.
Hot on Bonafede's heels is the Audi S4 quattro of Melvill Priest (A7 – Mueller Sports Medicine) who holds fifth spot. While being amongst the top five racers is no small achievement in this fast-paced series, Priest is unlikely to want to finish the year without making a push for a higher finishing position – especially when it would require just a handful of points to make that happen.
With that as an incentive, Priest will be aiming for another strong performance – ideally like that which he displayed at the last race in Cape Town. There Priest was clearly dominant, leading the field by a healthy margin to claim a convincing victory. A similar performance at Kyalami will clearly see him stamp his authority on the race day.
For Tschops Sipuka (A2 – Engen Xtreme) the final round of the season is an opportunity to break into the top five of the series. Just nine points is the gap he has going into the final event and will be racing to eliminate the deficit.
The Audi S4 quattro racers will be competing to produce their best result of the season, which will keep them in the midst of the racing action as they tackle the tough final round of the 2013 Super Series.
Michael Stephen A1 - Audi S4 - Terry Moss Racing
Tschops Sipuka A2 - Audi S4 - Terry Moss Racing
Melvill Priest A7 - Audi S4 - VMP Motorsport

Audi Sport Club Italia has a display at the Auto e Moto D'epoca show in Italy this weekend. Their display includes a very special tribute to one of Audi’s legendary race drivers.
This is the fifth year that Audi Sport Club Italia has attended the show with a display of Audi cars. They normally attend the show with a theme. Last year it was a rally theme and this year their display is a tribute to a legendary Italian Audi race driver, none other than, Rinaldo Capello.
Four race cars are on display, all of which were driven by Capello. Audi Sport Italia provided three of the cars. The first two cars include the 1994 Audi 80 Competition and the 1998 Audi A4 STW, which were driven by Rinaldo Capello in the Italian Super Touring Championship. The third car is the Audi R8 LMS ultra which Capello drove during the 2013 Italian GT season, the car is displayed next to an Audi R8 V10 plus road car. Capello’s 2012 Sebring 12 Hours winning Audi R18 TDI is the fourth car on display, the car that now resides at one of Capello’s Audi dealerships in Italy.
The Auto e Moto D'epoca show will be taking place this weekend, from 24-27 October.
We have included a set of photos from the show below, including photos of Audi Sport Italia loading the cars and heading to the show earlier this week.
