ADAC GT Masters: Horrific crash for Rahel Frey with an R8 LMS ultra at Hockenheim

By Tarek Ramchani

Rahel Frey had a horrific crash today at Hockenheim. The Swiss Audi works driver was behind the wheels of the #26 Audi R8 LMS ultra in ADAC GT Masters. Fortunately Rahel Frey is fine and OK, but that was a very scary moment after rolling her R8 LMS ultra.

DTM: Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller strong again

Audi Press Release

  •          Leader of the standings best Audi driver in qualifying at Zandvoort
  •          Grid position three directly behind title rival Farfus
  •          Seven of the eight Audi RS 5 DTM cars among the top eleven

Ingolstadt/Zandvoort, September 28, 2013 – The starting base before the penultimate race of the 2013 DTM season could hardly be more thrilling than this, as Augusto Farfus (BMW) and Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) – the two candidates for the title – are directly behind one another on grid positions two and three at Zandvoort (the Netherlands) on Sunday.

The 4.307-kilometer circuit on the Dutch North Sea Coast is regarded as one of the most challenging race tracks on which Audi, since its comeback with a factory-backed commitment in 2004, has achieved six out of nine possible victories. The track is regarded as putting extreme demands on the tires and offers only limited overtaking possibilities. That is why, more than at other races, good grid positions, the right strategy and a set-up that is gentle on the tires are crucial.

Leader of the standings Mike Rockenfeller in the Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Phoenix has checked off the first part and, by clinching grid position three, secured a good starting base for the 44-lap race. “Naturally, I’d have wished to be starting in front of Augusto (Farfus) tomorrow,” said the 29-year-old. “But even in this morning’s free practice he showed that he’s very strong here. Now we’ve got to see to us being fast enough in the race tomorrow to crack him. It was a difficult qualifying session for us, so I’m pleased with grid position three. My thanks go to Audi and my team. I’m the best Audi driver on the grid and my aim of winning the race remains unchanged. I need a good start and then we’ll see what happens.”

Alongside the leader of the standings, Timo Scheider in the AUTO TEST Audi RS 5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline will be starting the race from grid position four. Filipe Albuquerque in the Audi Financial Services RS 5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Rosberg, by taking position six, made for drivers from all three Audi teams to start from the first three rows.

Audi’s qualifying performance that was strong on the whole was completed by Edoardo Mortara (Playboy Audi RS 5 DTM), Adrien Tambay (Audi ultra RS 5 DTM), Miguel Molina (Audi RS 5 DTM) and Mattias Ekström (Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM) with grid positions seven, nine, ten and eleven.

With that, seven of the eight Audi RS 5 DTM cars are starting from the best eleven grid positions on Sunday. Only Jamie Green in his Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM, in 18th place, was eliminated by just a very narrow margin right in the first qualifying segment. As last year’s winner Bruno Spengler received a two-position grid penalty, Green will start the race from 17th place.

“The two candidates for the title are directly behind one another tomorrow on the first two rows of the grid – it can hardly be more thrilling than this,” said Dieter Gass, Head of DTM at Audi Sport. “Mike (Rockenfeller) drove a strong qualifying session yet again and Timo (Scheider), as always, was very fast at Zandvoort again. With six Audi cars in the top ten, we’ve got a good overall starting base for the race in which the right strategy will play a crucial role – there are many different variants that can be driven here. It’ll be a very exciting race.”

Mike Rockenfeller will have the chance to secure an early DTM title win by achieving a good result on Sunday. ARD will broadcast live on ‘Das Erste’ starting at 13:15 from. The race can be watched live on YouTube in many countries as well.

Quotes after qualifying at Zandvoort:

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport):“Mike Rockenfeller achieved a good starting base for the race on his own power. Now, making the right decisions in the race tomorrow will be very important. Nobody knows yet how the option tires are going to perform here – and overtaking isn’t easy at Zandvoort. The DTM fans can look forward to a thrilling race at which the start and the first turn will already be explosive, as both candidates for the title are close together on the grid.”

Dieter Gass (Head of DTM): “It can’t get much better than this. We’ve got two Audi and two BMW cars in the top four. Both candidates for the title are in contention at the front; that’s a promising situation for the race tomorrow. Thinking about our performances, we can be pleased as well. We’ve got seven Audi cars among the top eleven and can come up with something in terms of strategy for the race. We’re going to try and win tomorrow.”

Mike Rockenfeller (Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM), grid position 3
“It’s a good starting order, it’s got spice. I’m pleased with my position but not with my pace in qualifying. I gave everything but was struggling a bit with the car. Cracking Augusto (Farfus) tomorrow won’t be easy. But my aim of winning the race remains unchanged.”

Timo Scheider (AUTO TEST Audi RS 5 DTM), grid position 4
“A clean qualifying session without any problems and with a good way of making it into Q4. When I heard of Marco Wittmann’s time over the radio I knew that this lap could only be beaten with a lot of risk. And the risk in my case was a bit too high. Compared with my personal best time I was faster initially. I then tried to give everything and took too much of a risk. In the end, it was the second row. We can help Mike (Rockenfeller) and finish on the podium ourselves – that’ll be our aim tomorrow.”

Filipe Albuquerque (Audi Financial Services RS 5 DTM), grid position 6
“It was a very close qualifying session. The team did a great job after free practice because I wasn’t completely happy with the car this morning. I’m hoping that, like at Oschersleben, I’ll be able to make up four places again. The race will be very long and it’ll be very close.”

Edoardo Mortara (Playboy Audi RS 5 DTM), grid position 7
“It was a disappointing qualifying session for us. We were quick in Q2 and there was greater potential. Then, in Q3, we had lower grip than in Q2 and didn’t make it into the last qualifying qualifying segment.”

Adrien Tambay (Audi ultra RS 5 DTM), grid position 9
“I’m not completely happy with my performance. Q4 was possible today but I made a mistake in the penultimate turn. I’m sorry for the team. But ninth place isn’t bad. We’re going to battle in the race!”

Miguel Molina (Audi RS 5 DTM), grid position 10
“As always in the DTM, it was very close. We were always at the limit: 16th place in Q1, tenth in Q2, and always barely another lap forward. Subsequently, I wasn’t completely happy with Q3. But it’s always good to make it into the top ten. With that, we’ve got a good chance to help ‘Rocky’ (Mike Rockenfeller) and Phoenix in the battle for the title.”

Mattias Ekström (Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM), grid position 11
“I’m looking forward to the race. But starting from position eleven is more difficult than when you’re further at the front. Half the field is in front of me, the other half is behind me. My aim is to overtake as many cars as possible. Those who know me know that we’ll only give up after the checkered flag has come out.”

Jamie Green (Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM), grid position 17
“It was a short qualifying session. We only went out twice; the best lap came in the first outing. Before qualifying, we’d changed the set-up a bit and that didn’t pay off. Some of the changes weren’t positive. I first had to get used to the car in qualifying, which isn’t ideal. On such a short weekend, you’ve only got little time for changes.”

Hans-Jürgen Abt (Team Director Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): “It was a close qualifying session again. But we’re pleased with our starting base because we believe that we’ve got a good race set-up. We’ll see to supporting ‘Rocky’ (Mike Rockenfeller) tomorrow; we’re starting from the same row.”

Ernst Moser (Team Director Audi Sport Team Phoenix): “A good qualifying session with both cars among the top ten. That’ll help us a lot in the team classification, as the two Mercedes, which are leading the standings, are far at the rear. We’ve achieved a lot and are closely trailing Augusto Farfus. We’re going to try and stay on his heels in the race or to overtake him. ‘Thanks’ to the team and the two drivers who showed very strong nerves.”

Arno Zensen (Team Director Audi Sport Team Rosberg): “Positions six and seven aren’t so bad. In Q2, Edo (Mortara) drove the best time. But afterward he didn’t manage to do that well anymore. In each sector, he lost some time although everything on the car was the same. We’ve got a good base; we can build on that for the race tomorrow.”

VLN: Audi TT RS domination in SP3T and SP4T at round seven

By Johan Laubscher

The seventh meeting of the VLN Endurance Championship was held at the Nürburgring this weekend. A total of seven Audis were entered.

Only one Audi R8 LMS ultra was entered this weekend, the #44 Audi entry from Twin Busch Motorsport in the SP9 class.

An army of six Audi TT cars were also entered. Three TT RS cars were entered in SP3T, joined by one TT and one TTS. One TT RS was entered in SP4T. The Audi Sport customer racing developed TT RS entries included Raeder Motorsport, Møller Bil Motorsport and Rotek Racing.

During qualifying the Twin Busch R8 LMS ultra was the highest place Audi in eighth overall. There was an Audi 1-2-3-4 at the top of the SP3T class. The #331 Raeder Motorsport Audi TT RS took pole in SP3T and the #249 Rotek Racing TT RS took pole in SP4T.

The race concluded with the #44 Twin Busch Audi R8 LMS ultra unfortunately running low on fuel during the final lap, while they were running as high as second. The fuel miscalculation cost the team and they were ultimately classified as a non finisher. SP3T was dominated by the Audi TT RS cars, as the #331 Raeder entry won the class ahead of the #334 Møller Bil TT RS and the #290 TT RS in third. Rotek Racing won the SP4T class.

The eighth VLN event will be held at the Nürburgring on the twelfth of October.

FIA GT: Front row for WRT and pole position for Novadriver Audis at Navarra

By Tarek Ramchani

Navarra this weekend is home of the penultimate round of the newly formed FIA GT Series. The Audi squad arrived in Spain with four Audi R8 LMS ultra machines. All the cars performed very well this afternoon in the qualifying session.

Two teams are representing Audi Sport customer racing in the Spanish meeting. Belgian Audi Club Team WRT with a three-car effort and Team Novadriver from Portugal with a single car entry.

Both teams cars made to the Super Pole, open for the 10 fastest cars. The #13 Audi R8 LMS ultra from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT secured a fine second place. The car is driven by Edward Sandstrom and Frank Stippler. Their team-mates Niki Mayr-Melnhof and Oliver Jarvis were right behind in third with the #12 Audi. Olliver Jarvis is replacing this weekend René Rast who is busy with Prosperia C Abt Racing in ADAC GT Masters. The series points leaders Stéphane Ortelli and Laurens Vanthoor qualified in seventh place driving the #11 R8 LMS ultra.

Team Novadriver took a sensational pole position in Pro-Am class with their #14 Audi R8 LMS ultra. The Portuguese Audi is driven by César Campaniço and new comer to the team Michael Ammermuller. A great result for Novadriver after a very hard meeting last time out in Slovakia.

Unfortunately, Phoenix Racing is not taking part in this event. The German team already missed the previous round at Slovakia Ring.

Superstars: Hard qualifying and bad BoP for Audi Sport Italia at Imola

By Tarek Ramchani

The Superstars Series is at Imola this weekend for the penultimate round of the season. Battle is raging for the title between Audi and Mercedes-Benz.With Audi Sport Italia fielding no less than three Audi RS 5 quattro cars. Unfortunately that was not enough as the official Audi Italia dealer team faced an extremely hard qualifying session this afternoon.

Team's regular Gianni Morbidelli is joined this weekend by Davide Di Benedetto and Giuseppe Cipriani. The car is coming from a successful British round at Donington park last time out. Following Morbidelli's strong performances in the UK, Superstars Series organizers adjusted the Balance of Performance. The Audi RS 5 quattro once again penalized and slowed down. The three drivers had two very difficult free practice sessions earlier today. Things did not improve in the qualifying session as the Audi drivers were not able to match the pace of the rivals from AMG Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Gianni Morbidelli qualified his #45 RS5 quattro in eighth place. His team-mate Davide Di Benedetto ended in ninth place with car #46. Giuseppe Cipriani was twelvth with the #47 Audi.

The two races are set for tomorrow and it will be hard to see Audi Sport Italia drivers battling for the top spots. The Balance of Performance changed a lot of times this year in Superstars Series and each time hitting the RS 5 quattro. With only two meeting left, this is very difficult situation for title contender Gianni Morbidelli.

DMV TCC: Strong results for the RS Tuning Audis at Monza

By Johan Laubscher

The DMV Touring Car Challenge headed to Monza for its eighth and penultimate round of the season. RS Tuning was entered with their two-car Audi R8 LMS ultra team.

RS Tuning returned to the eighth round with their two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars, driven by Suzanne Weidt (#88) and Dietmar Haggenmüller (#8). The RS Tuning Audi R8 LMS ultra cars feature the full 2013 specification, as they are allowed to run the original 2013 Audi R8 LMS ultra rear diffuser in the DMV TCC and the AvD 100 Melien.

A third Audi joined the gird this weekend. The ex-ROC French Supertourisme Audi 80 of Joachim Duscher was also entered.

During qualifying for the first race the highest Audi was that of Haggenmüller, who qualified twelfth overall and seventh in class. Weidt qualified seventeenth overall and eighth in class. The Audi 80 of Duscher was twenty-eighth overall, sixth in class.

Qualifying for race two again yielded Haggenmüller as the highest Audi, this time placing thirteenth overall, eighth in class. Weidt qualified nineteenth overall and ninth in class. Duscher was thirtieth overall, fifth in class.

Race one ended with Haggenmüller finishing fifth in class, placing tenth overall. Weidt finished sixteenth overall and seventh in class, whilst Duscher was unfortunately not classified as a finisher and also did not take part in the second race. Race two saw Haggenmüller finishing eighth overall, fifth in class and Weidt in fifteenth overall, seventh in class.

The final round of the DMV TCC will be held at Hockenheim from 11-12 October.

FIA Press Release

The FIA President, Jean Todt, opened the meeting by thanking Matko Bolanca, President of the Croatian Car & Karting Federation (CCKF), and Zrinko Gregurek, Secretary General of the CCKF and WMSC member, for their hospitality and for hosting the FIA family.

The following decisions were taken by the World Motor Sport Council:

FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

In order to increase competitiveness, from 2014 the title of FIA World Endurance Manufacturers’ Champion will be awarded to the manufacturer scoring the greatest number of points with two cars (three cars if under Article 16.A) in the general classification.

The 2014 Sporting Regulations will be adjusted in order to take into consideration the new LMP1 Technical Regulations which will be implemented next season, taking into consideration the new distinction between the light category cars for privateers only (LMP-L) and the Hybrid category cars for both manufacturers and privateers (LMP-H), and the allocation of energy.

GT

The principles of the convergence between the current GTE cars (Le Mans) and the FIA GT3 have been commonly defined by the FIA and ACO and agreed by all the GT manufacturers. FIA GT: Maintaining the advantage: key objective for the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT at Navarra

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Press Release

Following the end of the Blancpain Endurance Series last weekend at the Nürburgring, the focus of the GT community shifts to the FIA GT Series, the other top series in GT racing, which heads to the one-before-last stop of the season.
This will be at Navarra, the modern and very pleasant track near Pamplona, in  Northern Spain. The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT goes to Spain with the clear objective to maintain and possibly improve the nice advantage it has built in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings. At the moment, the three driver line-ups of the team are leading in the Drivers’ competition, a situation that anticipates an interesting ‘family battle’ between Ortelli-Vanthoor, Sandström-Stippler and Mayr-Melnhof, in that order in the standings. For this round, Niki Mayr-Melnhof will have a different team mate, as René Rast is taken by other commitments and replaced by Britain’s Oliver Jarvis, who is everything but a new face in the team. In the Teams’ standings, the Belgian squad has a comfortable 36-point advantage over the runner-up.

Spirits are high in the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT ahead of this fifth round. “In the first place, because it is always a great pleasure to go to such a nice circuit as Navarra”,explains Team WRT Principal Vincent Vosse. “It has been a regular fixture in SRO-ran series over the years, and we have done well in the past there, but most of all, it’s a nice track in a nice region, very well managed by Michel Ligonnet and his team.”

“We enjoy a good position in both championships at the moment”, continues Vosse, “and the objective is to keep things that way: maintain the advantage and if possible, increase it ahead of the final round in Baku. Being a street circuit and a new track for most of the participants, so it would be safer to get to Azerbaijan with a sufficient margin of points. The advantage we have at the moment doesn’t mean at all that things will be easy in Spain. The competition is very strong and we will still have to cope with an unfavorable Balance of Performance, but I don’t want to sing the same song once again. We will be running the cars in their 2013 configuration in Spain, to show we are not seeking confrontation. I think we proved sufficiently our point in Slovakia at the last round and there is no need to run in 2012 specs one more time.”

Traditionally, the Audis R8 LMS ultra have been competitive at Navarra. It is a track really appreciated by drivers. “With its natural design, many up and downs through the hills, and technical corners with different surface inclination, it offers a really exciting driving experience. The turns are mostly medium-slow, which generally is not the most interesting configuration, but here they are really technical, and Turn 1 is a nice fast curve. It’s a track that may be tough on the brakes, but at this period of the year, cooler temperatures should help.”

Clearly, one of the main points of interest in Spain will be the battle for the Drivers’ title, which sees an unusual situation, with three driver teams of the same squad (Team WRT!) at the top of the points table. “It’s always an interesting situation to have a family affair of this kind”, reckons Sporting Director Pierre Dieudonné, “but we are clearly taking the option not to interfere at all, for the sake of the sports. We trust the professionalism and fair-play of our drivers, who are all grown-up boys, and they will be free to play their cards, within only one boundary: not to hurt the team’s interests.”

The six drivers in contention will actually be five, as René Rast, who normally partners with Niki Mayr-Melnhof, on car #12, will not be in Spain. The German is in a position to fight for the ADAC GT Masters title as well and will be participating in the finale of the German series that takes place at Hockenheim on the same weekend. He will be replaced by another Audi driver, Oliver Jarvis, who knows well the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and will be given a warm ‘welcome back’ by everybody.
The key players in the fight look forward to the weekend. Laurens Vanthoor, who together with Stéphane Ortelli, has a 19-point advantage at the moment, reflects: “It will be important for us to continue scoring consistently as we have been doing so far in 2013. Of course any mistakes now are going to be punished so we have to be careful as well as quick. Battling a car from the same team is very difficult but as long as we maintain the respect which we have done so far then it should be only fun at Navarra.”
In the role of the chaser, Frank Stippler and Edward Sandström are obliged to attack. “We have a gap to close and we intend to start in Spain this weekend”, confirms the German “We need to score heavy points in Navarra and it definitely should be a very interesting weekend.”
The weekend will have a compact format, with free practice and qualifying on Saturday and both the Qualifying and Main races taking place on Sunday.

Thought for the Moment - Feminism as a "Protected Group"

Feminism is not a race, religion, nationality or ethnic group. However, the case can certainly be made that feminism is a culture. Cultures, both large and small, are common - and they spring to life all over the landscape like mushrooms. It is not unusual for a "culture" to form and, after a couple of generations, crystallize into a tradition. In the case of feminism, such crystallization has undoubtedly occurred. That is, feminism is established to the point where it sustains itself through cultural transmission down the generations even while it continues to grow by proselytizing. So yes, it is accurate to speak of feminism as a cultural tradition.

But should feminists be classified as a "protected group", as one might classify a race, religion or ethnicity? And at the risk of sounding bizarre, should there be hiring quotas or scholarships just for feminists?

Let us consider a different example, that of the Ku Klux Klan. Certainly the KKK qualifies as a cultural tradition, having been transmitted through several generations. (The same may be said of National Socialism or Italian Fascism, both of which are still around today.) But should the KKK be classified as a "protected group", as one might classify a race, religion or ethnicity? And at the risk of sounding bizarre, should there be hiring quotas or scholarships just for KKK members?

Very well, if you insist that the KKK should enjoy zero status as a protected group then I would assert, for consistency, that feminism should enjoy no better. The KKK and feminism are both cultural traditions - and either both of them deserve protected status, or neither of them do. I will not be swayed by arguments that feminism should be a protected group because it is allegedly "good", while the KKK should enjoy no such protection because it is allegedly "bad".

Thus, if it be admitted under law that so-called hate speech against feminism is possible, I would insist that it be equally admitted under law that such speech against the KKK is possible. And if what I have just proposed sticks in the craw of any reader, I will settle for abolishing the concept of hate speech, under law, altogether.

In practice, it is well-nigh impossible to angrily call out people for their bad behavior without stepping over a fine line into "hate speech" territory. "Death to tyrants!" is the original hate speech, and being such a horribly hateful chap myself, I endorse that sentiment with all my heart. So let fly with ALL manner of speech, I say! Love speech, hate speech - it's all good, so bring it on! And may the best man win.

I would like to touch upon the question whether feminism might be considered a "religion". We know that "religious groups" are among those protected by hate speech laws,  but we should consider the status of feminism in our supposedly "secular" social order. If you espouse any flavor of liberal-humanist secularism and yet by some stretch consider feminism a "religious group" (hence protected) you would wrestle with a core philosophical conflict. And why? Because if feminism should happen to violate the spirit of secularism - say, by breeching church-state separation, or behaving intolerantly - you would be bound to call it out for this, wouldn't you? Depending on the case, you might be bound to do so rather harshly. Even, dare I say it, intolerantly? Well just imagine the hot water that would get you into!

Personally, while admitting that feminists effectively consider themselves a kind of "church", I would adamantly deny them the legal status of a religion. Hence, they would get none of the protection that a religion would get. That sounds about right to me.

ADAC GT Masters: Audi will fight for driver and team titles at Hockenheim

By Tarek Ramchani

Hockenheim is hosting the season finale of the ADAC GT Masters. No less than seven Audi R8 LMS ultra cars will represent the Audi squad in the event.

With only two races left, Audi is still in contention for the driver title. Christopher Mies and René Rast are fifth in the overall standings. The two Prosperia C Abt Racing drivers have 128 points, after some race wins and bad luck with their #27 Audi R8 LMS ultra. They are 33 points behind series leaders, and Corvette Callaway drivers, Daniel Keilwitz and Diego Alessi. At Hockenheim Rene Rast and Christopher Mies will have no choice other than to win. What a TWAT..........

Chairman of Barilla pasta Guido Barilla.
Has stated that
" He won't have Gays in his commercials,
as Barilla believes in the traditional family"
Well, that's his choice.
But just wait till he sees how,

You Need to Read This

This is an old article from AVfM - well, not too old - and we have just been talking about the ideas contained in it, in the course of talking about many other things. And guess what? It's mighty important grist in the present counter-feminist thought mill. I mean that it sets the course for a lot of future strategy. So. . . if you want to be on the ground floor with such things, I encourage you to give it a thoughtful read:

Hate Speech Against Feminism? Meh!

At the risk of being a thundering bore, I should say this again: feminism is an ideology, and not a birth group. Nobody is born a feminist, and anybody can stop being a feminist by making up their mind to do so.

One is born female, or born black, or born white, or born with other indelible DNA markers - and you cannot "stop" being what these things make you. Or at least, no easier than you might reconfigure your chromosomes by mind over matter.

One is also born into a cultural tradition or nationality - e.g. Jewish, Muslim, Roma, French, Inuit, and so on. These things are imprinted on your your psychic DNA starting at a young age, and additionally, they are hallowed by historical duration stretching back hundreds or even thousands, of years.

Feminism is different. It is little better than a shoddily cobbled-together body of ideas which has been around for half-a-century at most. Some people have elected to download this shoddily cobbled-together body of ideas into their brains, but we must not forget that it was a conscious DECISION on their part. To be a feminist is neither innate, nor immutable, nor sanctified by any long ethno-religious tradition.

Again, feminism is just some stuff that you stuff into your brain. And none of it, I repeat, none of it, offers you any sheltered or sanctified status. Hate speech laws, as presently written, do not cover ideologies or ideological "tribes".

I grant you that anybody can speak hatefully of anything they choose - and they may choose to speak hatefully of feminism as they would speak hatefully of any other hateful (or at least unlikeable) thing - e.g. mobsters, arsonists, loan sharks, slumlords, the KKK, or whatever. But none of the foregoing are protected by hate speech laws, nor, to the best of my knowledge, is feminism. Nor SHOULD feminism be protected by hate speech laws - any more than mobsters and so on, should be thus shielded.

I realize that feminists often harbor a very lofty conceit of themselves, and get all huffy when you speak ill of them. But then, it is possible that mobsters would have a similar sense of self-worth, and they can get VERY huffy if you talk shit about them.

But that does not mean mobsters are protected by hate speech laws, any more than are feminists, who, come to think of it, act a lot like thugs themselves sometimes.

Friend with benefits.........

So Robert Pattinson has a new passing fancy.
She's called Sydney Liebes,
turns out she's his personal trainer.
So at least he gets to stretch.
Plus he has to pay her.
The girl has it worked out.
Just watch how her rates go up.

Gulf 12 Hours: United Autosports Audi R8 LMS ultra on the provisional entry list

By Johan Laubscher

The third edition of the Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi will be taking place in December. United Autosports will be returning to the event once more, armed with their Audi R8 LMS ultra.

The first Gulf 12 Hours took place in January 2012, followed by the second edition in December 2012. United Autosports competed at both events last year, highlighted by a podium finish for the team in January. These events have a unique two-part format, comprised of two six hour races with a break in-between.

11-13 December 2013 will see the third Gulf 12 Hours being hosted at Yas Marina. The provisional entry list has been released and updated. Thus far the entry list includes a large number of GT3 competitors, including one Audi R8 LMS ultra. United Autosports will be fielding two cars this year, their R8 LMS ultra and one McLaren MP4-12C.

The final entry list is expected to be released by October, but the provisional list can be seen HERE.

It is great to see United Autosports returning to the Gulf 12 Hours and it should be another exciting race at the beautiful Yas Marina Circuit.

Wednesdays Workout| Tone It Up Frisky Fall Challenge

tone it up frisky falStrive-for-progress-not-perfection-554x433

It’s the start of a new season, my favourite one… Autumn! I love the change in weather, the crisp cool mornings, the changing colours of the leaves, the cosy evenings in front of a fire, and all the cute accessories… hello gloves, hats, scarves and boots!

Anyways, although this post isn’t a single workout as it normally is, it’s a whole workout plan and schedule free for you for the next 6 weeks! The Tone It Up girls have embraced the change of season and created a new Frisky Fall Challenge for their followers. Their challenges are basically a workout plan and schedule to follow with free workouts and tips, and the option of paying for their nutritional guide. I haven’t bought the guide but do love their workouts. But what I love most is the community they create. Those who participate in Tone It Up very often have Instagram and Twitter accounts solely for Tone It Up purposes, they “check in” each time they do a workout; so take pictures of their run or calories burnt, and share the meals they’ve eaten for that day. By searching the official hashtag on either Instagram or Twitter you can meet thousands of girls who are all supporting each other; it’s very motivating!

I attempted their Bikini Series Challenge during the summer, but didn’t do fantastically, which is why I’m going to give it my all during the #FriskyFall Challenge. The challenge is for 6 weeks and runs from Monday just passed to Halloween… so we’ll all look great in our fancy dress costumes!

To follow the challenge Tone It Up say you are to complete each workout challenge they give- everyday; check-in once you have completed it; journal your nutrition; and workout in the morning at least 4 times a week.  To keep us motivated the Tone It Up girls also hand out prizes to those who continually check-in.

I’m very much aiming for progress not perfection. It’s always about taking baby steps for me, as if I tackle too much I become overwhelmed and unmotivated when I fail. So I have set my goals for the next 6 weeks with this in mind. My goals are;

  • BootyCall Morning Workout at least 5 times a week
  • Complete the #100ByHalloween Challenge- Run 100 miles by Halloween.
  • Meal Prep every Sunday
  • Each completely clean 5 days out of 7 (Massive goal for me, who very often grazes on snacks/ treats I shouldn’t)

I’m joining in on the challenge and I imagine loyal Tone It Up girl Jayne Becca will be also. If you fancy it please let me know and we can support each other! If you’re unsure, give the hashtags #FriskyFall #100ByHalloween #ToneItUp #TIU a search on Instagram or Twitter and see how motivating challenges and communities such as these can be!

I hope you take up the challenge. It’s only for 6 weeks… imagine how good you will feel and how amazing you will look after 6 weeks commitment to a new workout schedule!

Thunderhill 25 Hours: Two GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS on the provisional entry list

By Johan Laubscher

The last big daylong endurance race of the year has always been the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in North America. Audi R8 LMS entries will be debuting at the event this year.

Last year there was a single Audi on the 25 Hours of Thunderhill grid, the 034 Motorsport Audi TT RS (VLN SP4T). After much build-up the car did not disappoint and was battling for the overall lead during the race. Unfortunately a rare gearbox problem sidelined the Audi last year, whilst it was leading overall.

Looking ahead at the 2013 edition: the provisional entry list with the current registered entrants was released this week. A total of two Audi cars are included thus far. The two cars are Audi R8 LMS vehicles, both entered by GMG Racing in the ES class.

GMG Racing has been campaigning Audi R8 LMS cars in the Pirelli World Challenge during 2012 and 2013. They are currently involved in the GT title fight, as team co-owner and star driver, James Sofronas, is battling for the driver’s title.

So far three GT3 cars have been entered for Thunderhill, the two Audis and one Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG from Black Swan Racing, also from the Pirelli World Challenge.

Currently no driver line-ups have been included. However, John Watson made an interesting comment during the Blancpain Endurance Series Nürburgring 1000 race broadcast. He mentioned that Bernd Schneider will be taking part in the 25 hour race in North America, behind the wheel of a SLS. This has not yet been confirmed, but it is great news that big names will potentially be taking part and also the addition of GT3 race cars.

Current GT3 entries in the ES class:

#8 Audi R8 LMS - GMG Racing
#14 Audi R8 LMS - GMG Racing
#54 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 - Black Swan Racing

The provisional entry list can be seen HERE.

The 2013 25 Hours of Thunderhill is scheduled to take place from 7-8 December.

Update: Rotek Racing have mentioned on their Facebook page that they will be at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill this year. Rotek Racing has been campaigning an Audi TT RS (VLN SP4T) car in the German VLN Endurance Championship this year, the very same car that was used by 034 Motorsport at the 2012 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Their Audi TT RS entry is expected to appear on the provisional entry list very soon, thus taking the current Audi count up to three cars.
