Australian GT: Podium for Salmon MPC Audi in Sydney

By Johan Laubscher

The Australian GT Championship headed to Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend. Two Audi cars were entered, both run by Melbourne Performance Centre.

The #6 Skwirk Audi R8 LMS ultra was driven by Rod Salmon and joined for this weekend by Nathan Antunes. The second MPC R8 LMS was the Equity-One Motorsports entry driven by Dean Koustoumidis and Andrew McInnes. This was the first Australian GT event where the Koustoumidis R8 LMS was run by MPC, following a switch from Minda Motorsport. Both cars were recently entered by MPC in a regional event in Sydney, as preparation for this weekend.

The cars performed very well and the Salmon R8 LMS ultra qualified second and the Koustoumidis car in seventh. Race one saw Salmon and Antunes scoring a podium by finishing in third, followed by the second Audi in sixth place. The first race was won by Jack Le Brocq in an Erebus Motorsport Mercedez-Benz SLS ahead of Klark Quinn in the VIP Porsche.

In race two the highest Audi finished in sixth, again the #6 Audi R8 LMS ultra of Salmon and Antunes. The Equity-One Audi R8 LMS finished in eighth, ensuring that both Audis finished the weekend inside of the top ten for races one and two. The second race was again won by Jack Le Brocq in the Mercedes ahead of  Klark Quinn, with the Maranello Motorsport Ferrari 458 in third.

The weekend’s Australian GT results can be seen HERE.

Queensland Raceway will host the next Australian GT event, round five which will be held in August.

DTM: Edoardo Mortara gives Audi fans reason for hope

Audi Press Release

  • Italian will start the DTM race at the Norisring from the second row
  • Extremely narrow gaps in qualifying
  • Leader of the standings Mike Rockenfeller only on grid position 19

Ingolstadt/Nuremberg, July 13, 2013 – Edoardo Mortara missed the pole position in qualifying at the Norisring by an extremely narrow margin of just 106 thousandths of a second. As the best Audi driver, the Italian from Audi Sport Team Rosberg in his Playboy Audi RS 5 DTM will start the DTM’s only city street race on Sunday (broadcast live on “Das Erste”) from the second row.

Summer in the city: The battle for the best grid positions was as hot as the weather in Nuremberg. In the first qualifying segment (Q1) the fastest 16 cars were within two and a half tenths of a second. Finding a clear lap on the city street circuit that is only 2.3 kilometers long and getting the tires to work properly was crucial.

Within the Audi squad, Edoardo Mortara did the best job of this. The four-time winner of the Macau Grand Prix, who is particularly fond of city street circuits, battled his way forward into the decisive fourth qualifying segment and secured grid position four. “It was a good qualifying session for us,” said the Italian. “Achieving a better result would have been difficult today. In Q3 and Q4, I had the feeling of having squeezed the maximum out of the car. We’re not completely in front yet so we’ve still got some work to do. But the gap isn’t large and that’s good. We’ve got some difficult weekends behind us on which we were competitive but didn’t get everything together competely. Now things are going better – that’s a nice result for Team Rosberg too.”

Team Rosberg provided the second-fastest Audi driver – Filipe Albuquerque (Audi Financial Services RS 5 DTM) – as well. The Portuguese finished the qualifying session in eighth place. With Mattias Ekström (Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM) taking ninth place, a driver from Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline finished in the top ten too.

In eleventh place, Adrien Tambay, who in his Audi ultra RS 5 DTM had been the fastest driver in the morning’s free practice, barely missed the leap into Q3. His two team-mates Timo Scheider (AUTO TEST Audi RS 5 DTM) and Jamie Green (Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM) are sharing the seventh row of the grid. In the morning, both had lost valuable practice time in the pits.

The most prominent victim of the extremely close field at the Norisring was Mike Rockenfeller (Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM). In 19th place, the leader of the standings was eliminated right in the first section and is now facing a particularly difficult task on Sunday. His team-mate in Audi Sport Team Phoenix, Miguel Molina, even had to settle for grid position 22.

“Even for DTM and Norisring conditions, the gaps were extremely narrow today,” said Dieter Gass, Head of DTM at Audi Sport. “Edoardo (Mortara) made sure that even after five races we’re still the only manufacturer to have had at least one car among the top four in qualifying. Following the strong performance in free practice this morning, we’d obviously been hoping for a bit more than position four on the grid. But lately we’ve been seeing that our RS5 has always been very strong in the race. That’s why anything’s still possible tomorrow – even for Mike (Rockenfeller). Making the best use of the option tires as well as of DRS will be playing a very important role tomorrow.”

Fans around the world can watch the fourth DTM race of the year live on the DTM’s new YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/dtmint. 39 TV channels in total air live DTM coverage in 141 countries. In Germany, ARD will start to broadcast live from Nuremberg on “Das Erste” at 13:15.

Before the start of the DTM race Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen will be driving demo laps on the Norisring with the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. The Dane clinched the pole position for Audi in Nuremberg in 2005.

DTM: Seven Audi RS 5 DTM in top 10 in Norisring practice session

By Tarek Ramchani

The DTM resumes this weekend at the Norisring, the second shortest track of the season after Brands Hatch Indy. The Audi squad are already doing well at the temporary street course.

A very close free practice session saw seven Audi drivers in the top 10. The Audi RS 5 DTM performed extremely well. The 2012 DTM champion, Bruno Spengler, was the fastest with his #1 BMW M3 DTM, setting a time of 48.427. Adrien Tambay was only 0.004 behind driving the #24 Audi RS 5 DTM from Audi Sport Team Abt. In third was Edoardo Mortara, the Audi Sport Team Rosberg driver 0.125 behind Spengler's time.

Filipe Albuquerque was fourth, Timo Scheider was fifth, Miguel Molina was sixth, Mike Rockenfeller was seventh and Mattias Ekström was eighth. Jamie Green was the only driver within the Audi squad who was outside of the top 10. The British Audi driver ended in sixteenth place. Green is a four-time winner at the Norisring. The free practice session results can be seen here.

That was only the free practice session, yet it was an impressive performance from the Audi teams and drivers. The qualifying session is coming up next at 14:40 local time.

Fitness Friday| Maxitone Sculptress Diet Review

Maxitone sculptress diet review

I have had my eye on Maxitone Sculptress for a number of years but always hesitated at buying it. However the other month it was on Groupon for half the price so I impulse bought it at about 11 o clock at night.
It arrived a few days later and after giving it a thourough read I was disappointed to find it was a meal replacement product; I had thought it was more of a protein supplement product. However after paying good money for it I thought I would read upon on the "Sculptress diet", give it a good go and review it for you all.

So the diet works the same as a Slimfast one would, you have your shakes and bars to replace two meals a day then eat one healthy dinner. Maxitone claim that their shakes are healthier than the usual meal replacement products because they are made up of 1 third protein. However it is quite alarming to read the ingredient list on both the powder and shake, especially for a girl such as me who was eating pretty much green and clean before hand.

I would have a bar for breakfast... yes a chocolate bar, then a shake for lunch, a healthy snack at 3ish to prep me for my workout then a healthy dinner. I was suprised to find that the bars are incredibly filling! So much so that a few times I had to nibble on it as couldn’t manage it all in one go. The shakes go down very quickly but are again filling.

I was on the sculptress diet for 3 weeks and stuck to it pretty much all the time, apart form the weekend when I would eat regularly but within a decent calorie count. As I don’t weight myself I can’t tell you if I lost any weight, but I do think it helped slim down my stomach and reduce bloating. However after 3 weeks I found I was craving normal food and missed my two ingredient pancakes at breakfast loads. However I can see why this diet is appealing to people as it is very convenient. For those who are super busy and don’t know how to cook healthy then you only have to find the time to cook one meal a day, the rest is convenient food, just grab and go. So for me the Maxitone Scupltress diet is very much like weight loss for dummies, if you don’t want to educated yourself on nutrition then go on the diet. However I bet if you went back to your old eating habits the weight would come back on.

I wouldn’t ever embark on the Maxitone Sculptress diet again however I have seen on a few fitness and health blogs that the protein shake powder can be used to make pancakes, protein bars and even cupcakes! So I may invest another bottle of the Maxitone Protein Powder and try a few recipes.

Have you ever tried the Maxitone Sculptress Diet? Or perhaps as different meal replacement diet? Do you use the Maxitone Protein Powder of other products?

I have written an article for the Men's Rights Edmonton blog, concerning false rape accusation and the present political shit storm going on in Canada. I don't expect this piece of mine will do feminist blood pressure any favors. I thought about posting the article here also, but I have decided to send you there to read it. Q&A: Interview with Dion von Moltke - Daytona 24 Hours winner

By Johan Laubscher

Dion von Moltke has been a very busy race car driver in recent years. The young South African has been seen in a variety of race cars, including the Audi R8 GRAND-AM in North America. He was seen in the #51 APR Motorsport Audi during 2012, and most recently in the factory Audi Sport customer racing R8 GRAND-AM at Watkins Glen. His highlight of the season, without a shadow of a doubt, was when he won the Daytona 24 Hours (GT class) in the Alex Job Racing R8, sharing the car along with his teammates Filipe Albuquerque, Oliver Jarvis and Edoardo Mortara.

During 2012 we at the Audi Motorsport Blog spoke to Dion following a trip back home to South Africa, and published an interview featuring his 2012 season with the #51 APR Audi R8 GRAND-AM. We have recently caught up again with Dion following the Six Hours of the Glen, for another short Q&A, this time featuring his Daytona 24 Hours victory and the 2013 season.

1) First off, please describe how it felt winning the Daytona 24 Hours and collecting your Rolex.

To put into words the emotions and feeling I had walking up onto the top step of the podium and collecting my Rolex watch along side my teammates and having our whole team in front of me was definitely the most emotional experience I have ever had.  Motorsports is not often looked at as a team sport but to win the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona it takes a mammoth effort from every single person on a team, and our team at Alex Job Racing and Audi Sport Customer Racing went into battle with us and were flawless for the entire 24 Hours. Since our win at Daytona I haven’t actually really been able to sit back and reflect on what happened because I have been flat out working on the next race and trying to get back behind the wheel of an Audi.

2) How did the closing minutes of the race feel, when Albuquerque was leading the race with the do-or-die fuel strategy?

That was the most heart stopping gut wrenching time of my life to sit there and have no control over what was happening.  Olly Jarvis, Edo Mortara and I were all locking arms around one another yelling at the TV scream as we watched Filipe put in an amazing stint to hold off everyone for the last hour.  The strategy the team came up with was absolutely genius, between our race engineers Greg Fordhal and JĂĽrgen Jungklaus and our data engineer Pat Fraccalvieri they came up with the best strategy of anyone on the lead lap at the end.  As drivers we were trying to do the math of what gap we would need over second place to pit for a “splash-and-dash” at the end and still come out in the lead.  As we pitted we thought we had no chance to come out still in the lead, but as Filipe came out just infront of second place and still in the lead we all though two things, “We might not be the best mathematicians, and oh my god we might actually win this thing!”  There is a great youtube video filming the us drivers standing arm in arm yelling obscenities at the TV screen where you can just see the emotions pouring out of us for the final 2 laps.  I still get Goosebumps just writing about these moments I will never forget.

3) Describe the synergy in your driving crew at the Daytona 24 Hours, it was certainly an international mix with drivers from South Africa, Portugal, Italy and Britain.

I have always said chemistry is always the most important thing in building a team, and I believe that was our greatest strength throughout the entire event.  The first time I really got to meet any of them was on the test days under a month before the race and we all immediately got along well with one another as well as with the entire team.  In our debrief sessions our feedback was almost exactly the same to what we wanted or needed out of the car to improve.  Also when it came to something as important as seat position we all were willing to compromise a little bit to find the best possible solution for all four drivers, it is these little key things that were so important.

4) How did it feel racing alongside the factory drivers from Audi, who were all spread among the four Audi R8 cars at Daytona?

Just seeing my name alongside Albuquerque, Jarvis, and Mortara was something special.  Every driver dreams of becoming a factory driver and driving along side them was great.  Throughout the event you learn what has made them each so successful and you try to learn and implement those specific things to your own career and build upon it.

5) From the outside it looked like there was a good team spirit amongst the four Audi cars entered by AJR, Rum Bum and APR. How did the cohesion feel amongst the four teams from your perspective?

Absolutely!  We all worked very, very closely together.  We would share all information between the cars and drivers.  We would have meetings that would include engineers and drivers from all the cars together and speak about what was working or wasn’t working as a group and formed a strategy to continue to improve.  The massive amount of workload put in by everyone at Audi Sport Customer Racing as well as all the teams was the biggest reason the success we were able to have.

6) A brief description of your season so far after the Daytona 24 win in January.

Since Daytona it has been the most hectic season I have ever had with the biggest workload in and out of the car.  The business side of racing, is the actually the biggest part of being a racecar driver but it’s something that unless you’re involved in the industry.  Since Daytona I have signed to drive with Flying Lizard Motorsports for the rest of the season in ALMS which has been fantastic, they are one of the best teams in sportscar racing internationally so it has been an honor to work with them.  On the Grand-Am side I have been able to find last minute rides for a race in most of the races which has been really nice.  I have already done more races this year than I normally do for the entire season so the extra seat time is very nice to have and also something as a driver you need to adjust to.  With the extra racing and traveling you need to manage the off weeks a little bit differently and really attack the fitness end to continue to improve and push yourself during them.

7) You have recently been re-partnered with Mortara and Albuquerque for the remainder of the North American Endurance Championship, when did this program get finalized, shortly after Daytona or was it a more recent endeavour/decision from the team?

From my end it was actually very last minute.  I actually found out I would be racing in the car the week of the race.  In racing as a driver you learn that the old saying “Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready” is extremely important and true.

8) Describe how the Watkins Glen weekend went for you and the #24 Audi crew.

It was the first time any of us drivers had even sat in the Audi R8 Grand-Am racecar since our last laps at Daytona International Speedway, so to show up with extremely limited testing and qualify top five and have a car to win the race speaks so much to how good our engineers and crew are at Audi Sport Customer Racing.  Throughout the race we didn’t have things fall our way, in fact we just had some really bad luck when it came to timing of the yellows that really cost us a potential win there.  The competition in Grand-Am is extremely fierce and every team has the potential to win so you really need things to fall your way as well as preform at an extremely high level.  We had the crew and car to win the race but we didn’t make it happen which is frustrating but we’re all working hard to come back stronger!

9) The #24 Audi R8 GRAND-AM has been entered as a factory team, under the name of Audi Sport customer racing. How does it feel being part of this team for the NAEC, and how has the team been put together from the people at Kettler Motor Werks?

As a driver the best scenario you can have is when you show up for a race and you know you are driving for the best team in the paddock and with Audi Sport Customer Racing I have that.  You realize straight away working with everyone there as well as with Brad Kettler and everyone he has at Kettler Motor Werks what has made them all so successful over the last decade in motorsports.

10) Will we be seeing you in the Audi Sport customer racing Audi R8 GRAND-AM at Indianapolis for the final NAEC round?

Not sure if I will be in the car there or not yet.

11) This year you are racing in both ALMS and Grand-Am. Which one is most demanding, and how do they differ with approach for the driver?

Actually as a driver the two series have become quite similar and are both extremely demanding.  The main difference between the two series is in ALMS I race in the GTC class with Flying Lizard Motorsports and in the class everyone has the same spec Porsche 911 Cup Car and the changes you can make are extremely limited compared to Grand-Am.  This puts a huge emphasis onto the drivers in the car truly becoming even more important as well as a team that really focuses on all the very small details to get absolutely everything out of the car you can.  The difference on speeds as well in ALMS between the prototypes and GT cars are also much greater so that means you tend to spend more time looking in your mirrors and it also makes it a little tougher to judge traffic as often you will look in your mirror and see absolutely no one behind you and then all of a sudden three corners later they’re diving up the inside of you.

12) Following the completion of the NAEC, where else can we expect to see you racing this year?

Well I will be racing the rest of the season in the American Le Mans Series for Flying Lizard Motorsports.  That is my main focus for the rest of the year and as of now the only thing certain I have on the calendar.  I am still working very hard to get back behind the wheel of an Audi more full time.

13) You have now had a full 2012 season in an Audi with APR, a Daytona 24 Hours victory and a factory drive in the NAEC. Are there any possibilities of seeing you going over to Europe to race one of the Audi R8 LMS ultra cars for a guest drive, and possibly becoming an Audi factory driver in Europe?

That would be fantastic as I would love to be doing some racing in Europe but as of now my main focus is over here in the U.S.  If I had an opportunity to race some in Europe, especially as a Audi Factory Driver, I would be on the plane there the day I got the call!

We at the Audi Motorsport Blog thank Dion for taking the time to complete our questions, and we wish him the best of luck for the rest of the 2013 season. Here's to seeing him back in victory lane very soon.

Dion also thanks his sponsors for their continued support

Are Feminists Cowards? I Guess We'll See

There will be a special edition of  AVfM Radio, tonight at 8 p.m. central time, USA. I call it special, because it was planned 'specially in response to the huge events swirling around Men's Rights Edmonton. The feminists have been invited to "debate", and we'll see if there are any takers. So far, the infamous Lise Gotttell has haughtily refused -- which is typical behavior with these people: when they are confronted, they run away! Just like cockroaches when you flip the light on!

I will send you to AVfM, where they have published a brief post with details:

 http://www.avoiceformen.com/a-voice-for-men/avfm-radio/invite-to-feminists-come-debate-with-mens-rights-edmonton/

As is well-known, I am a POST-ARGUMENTALIST. I rarely or never condescend to "debate" with these people, choosing rather to intellectually harass them and undermine their worldview by the use of a carefully crafted, distributed message. I like to say that I "tell them what time it is."  This is not a "war of ideas". It is a war of messages -- ours against theirs. Guerrilla tactics are the order of the day, and the contest is to see whose message captures the zeitgeist.

Remember that we don't give a crap about "debating" with feminism, chiefly because they don't give a crap about debating with US. We've walked that road for too many years now, and we have seen very clearly where it gets us. By the end of the day, this is not about intellectual truth or persuasion. It is about POWER, and about the manifold ways that power is gained, lost or manipulated. That is the nitty-gritty street truth of the matter, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Remember too that the aggressor sets the terms of engagement, and with that in mind, we make selected use of their own tricks against them -- at our discretion.  Feminism is the primary aggressor in the present conflict, and the feminists are in a poor position to complain when we come back at them with the same tactics they have thrown at us for so long.

All the same, I tip my hat to anybody who still wants to debate or argue with these people. If you have the patience for such things, more power to you. And I will be listening to the AVfM program tonight, you may be sure of that.

Update From Edmonton

I have just heard from Men's Rights Edmonton, who have recently put up the anti-false accusation posters in their fair city. They tell me that a "media storm" has developed in that part of Canada, with all sorts newshounds sniffing around, and people wanting to do interviews.

It is SO easy to push buttons in the collective psyche! Almost TOO easy.

Amazing, isnt' it?

Update No. 2:

There will be a broadcast interview this evening, at 8 p.m. Rocky Mountain time. I believe it will be on the CBC, although I could be mistaken.  The subject of the interview will be the recent postering in Edmonton, and the interviewee will be a well known and HIGHLY opinionated pro-male woman from Canada. You'll recognize her right away; she has a blog! ;) As a woman, she can say outrageous, politically incorrect things that a man can never get away with. You know, like women should be held morally accountable. That kind of stuff.

So why start.

We've Got Feminism's Number!

We reject any method of studying feminism which commences by adopting the feminist worldview. That is why we consider the feminists themselves to be a poor source of knowledge about feminism. If you ask a feminist what feminism is, everything that person tells you will be feminist indoctrination into the feminist worldview. But we are not feminist and feminism's worldview is not our own, so we decline to view the world through it. We start from the conviction that our own standpoint in the universe has value, has a right to exist, and is not on trial.

That said, we launch our investigation from a point that both accords with the feminist worldview and transcends it, namely, the precept that feminism is the project to increase the power of women.

Feminism is literally nothing if not the project to increase the power of women. It must be this if it is anything at all, and whatever you might add to this, it remains this at the very least. This is a universal crossroad of understanding which puts everybody on the same map. It is a consensus that nearly all would share and it makes the best of starting points because, although it transcends the feminist worldview, it is not totally arbitrary or capricious.

Once we have thoroughly understood that feminism is the project to increase the power of women, new panoramas will open to us. We will draw the necessary implications, the consequences will become evident, and this will push our understanding to a new level.

To increase the power of women, as to increase the power of anything, means that women's power would grow by comparison to some other power. That is all it possibly could mean. But let us think further: the feminist project would be meaningless, if female power did not grow by comparison to male power specifically. For if both men's and women's power should grow by comparison to some other power -- the universe at large, let us say -- then it would be HUMAN power which had augmented itself, so that the limiting term "women" would be inappropriate and misleading. Nor would the term "feminism" be appropriate.

We conclude that the heart of the feminist project is to grow female power by comparison to male power in particular. And for want of contrary evidence, we conclude that this project has no proposed endpoint. We would await positive proof that it does, and would hold such proof to a high standard.

Since the project to increase women's power has no proposed endpoint, it follows that women's power must sooner or later surpass men's (if it has not already done so), issuing in a state that may be termed female supremacy. We may define female supremacy as a situation where the controlling power in most areas of life is a female power, and we are entitled to wonder if that would be a bad thing.

Our answer hinges on the question of moral constraint. Absolute power would be arbitrary power, and being absolute, would corrupt absolutely -- which is to say that no morality would constrain it. And true female supremacy could be nothing short of absolute power unconstrained by morality. Anything less would only be a stage along the road to supremacy, but not quite supremacy itself.

In the final tally, any limit to the growth of female power would constrain female power to treat men arbitrarily. And this, in turn, would be a moral constraint, because arbitrary power is nothing if not the power to disregard morality. So we must understand how the feminist project would stall out, if it were bound by the requirement to treat men ethically. We must understand how this would set an absolute upper limit on how far the project could extend itself.

Now, if one were determined to push the feminist project forward at all cost, one would need either to abandon all pretense of morality, or to make oneself the master of such pretense. Either method would give rise to a tangle of difficulties, both for the feminist operators and for the world at large. But try to imagine what the world in such a case would look like. Imagination would hardly be necessary, since you would need only to study the present world and draw the manifest conclusion.

The pro-male community has studied the world in the necessary way for many years, and the accumulated wisdom of that community is an earthly power of serious weight. As an empirical body of evidence, we may join it to the analysis provided above, and view the world through that lens.

Hey! They're Postering Again!

I am informed by the good folks at Men's Rights Edmonton that they have been plastering up the following in the neighborhood surrounding the University campus in Edmonton:

Not only that, but the mainstream media was quick to take up the hue-and-cry. Witness the following in CBC News Edmonton:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2013/07/09/edmonton-sexual-assault-posters.html

All right. Judging by the article and some of the reader comments, the feminist rape narrative still exerts a pretty strong hold on the collective mind. Why do so many people still think it is acceptable to make false accusations of rape? The posters very clearly make the point that such a thing is unacceptable, but evidently a lot of people disagree, and feel it is perfectly okay for a woman to say that a man raped her when he did not in fact do so. Now, to me that seems like a felony crime which ought to be punished as severely as rape itself. And yet, a lot of people are okay-fine about this, and don't see any problem if some perfectly innocent bloke gets sent to the penitentiary and sodomized by gangs of hardened criminals.

Well, it really is amazing how people have such diverse opinions about things, isn't it? Just goes to show, that it takes all sorts to make a world, eh? So, I reckon we should learn be more tolerant of differences....shouldn't we?

I would encourage readers to head over to the comment section on that article, and make your diverse opinions known.
