FIA WEC: Audi clinches fourth best time in succession at Austin

Audi Press Release

  •          Duval/Kristensen/McNish in front in qualifying in Texas
  •          Fässler/Lotterer/Tréluyer on front row as well
  •          Four best WEC qualifying times for Audi at five events

Ingolstadt/Austin, September 21, 2013 – Audi has taken the front positions yet again. On the debut of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at the “Circuit of the Americas” at Austin, Texas, both Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars of Audi Sport Team Joest captured the front row in the final qualifying session. Thus, an Audi has started from the top spot ever since the second WEC race at Spa.

The leaders of the standings presented themselves in superb form. Loïc Duval (F) in car number ‘2’ was the only driver to complete a lap in less than 1m 48s – and not just once but twice. On his second and third flying lap, posting 1m 47.801s and 1m 47.520s, respectively, he even significantly stayed below this mark. Allan McNish (GB) shared the cockpit in qualifying with the Frenchman and completed the team’s performance. The two team-mates achieved 1m 48.355s as their average time of the four best laps. With that, the Championship leaders secured a point in the standings as well.

The sister car, designated as number ‘1’ and driven by Marcel Fässler (CH) and André Lotterer (D), had to admit defeat by 0.262 seconds. On the 5.514-kilometer track, the duo achieved an average time of 1m 48.617s. Third place was clinched by challenger Toyota.

After a rainy day of practice on Friday and overcast skies in Saturday morning’s free practice, the sun came out above the Texan circuit in the qualifying session for the first time. Air temperatures of 26 and track temperatures of 37 degrees centigrade provided an initial foretaste of the conditions in the 6-hour race on Sunday.

The fifth of eight World Championship rounds starts on Sunday at 11:00, local time (18:00 German time). The race can be watched on the internet by live streaming on www.audi-motorsport.com and on www.fiawec.com. In Germany, Eurosport will start to broadcast on Sunday, starting at 22:26 and will air a summary on Tuesday, starting at 22:30.

Quotes after qualifying

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): “It’s great that we’re doing well on this track that’s new for us and that both cars are on the front row. But Sunday is the crucial day, as a good race result is what ultimately counts. But I think that we’ve been able to prepare ourselves well in the test sessions.”

Chris Reinke (Head of LMP): “From our point of view, we started the weekend in a commanding and positive way. Like all the competitors, we had a bit of misfortune yesterday with the weather conditions. That’s why today it was important to find the right rhythm again. Today, we’ve seen a good performance but we’ve also got to admit that our competitor suffered a bit of misfortune – which, obviously, we’re not wishing for anyone.”

Ralf Jüttner (Technical Director Audi Sport Team Joest): “This is a pretty clear result because, on average, the gap was two and a half tenths of a second. The foundation today was laid by the drivers who initially took the wheel. Loïc Duval was incredibly fast although he’d made a mistake on his first lap. That’s why his second and third laps were even more exceptional. Marcel Fässler was having a bit of a hard time today. Allan McNish and André Lotterer then took over the cars and both drove two very good laps, but the difference between the lap averages was already too large. It’s positive that all the drivers are feeling very comfortable on the track.”

Loïc Duval (Audi R18 e-tron quattro #2): “I immediately felt comfortable on this track. Now we’re on the pole position although that’s not so crucial for a 6-hour race. But we scored a point in the Championship. Now we’ve got some more work to do for Sunday.”

Tom Kristensen (Audi R18 e-tron quattro #2): “That was a very efficient job and a good team performance of the entire squad. Our car is very fast. Loïc and Allan showed a fantastic pace in qualifying. Now we’ve scored another important point. On Sunday, a hot and strenuous race in high humidity is awaiting us.”

Allan McNish (Audi R18 e-tron quattro #2): “Audi is on the front row again with both cars. I’m happy that we’re on pole after just barely missing it in Brazil. Compared with the competition we were good in the rain, and now we were on a dry track as well. As our sister car is battling for the title too, attack was clearly the best form of defense in qualifying today.”

Marcel Fässler (Audi R18 e-tron quattro #1): “I didn’t do a very good job on my first three flying laps. I kept making small mistakes. Only on my fourth lap I was able to set my best personal time. That was a little too late. I was lacking a second good lap time to achieve a good average.”

André Lotterer (Audi R18 e-tron quattro #1): “I gave everything and managed two brilliant laps. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the top spot on the grid. The others were a bit better and scored another point. Still, we’ve got a good starting base for the race. Our Audi feels good.”

Benoît Tréluyer (Audi R18 e-tron quattro #1): “That wasn’t an easy qualifying session but Audi showed outstanding performances with both cars. Loïc Duval was very fast on new tires and made no mistakes. But my two team-mates battled for the pole position as well. It was fun to watch this nice duel.”

Qualifying results

1 Duval/Kristensen/McNish (Audi R18 e-tron quattro) 1m 48.355s

3 Buemi/Davidson/Sarrazin (Toyota) 1m 49.696s

BES: Frustrating qualifying session for Audi at the Nürburgring

By Tarek Ramchani

The Audi squad had a very frustrating qualifying session today at the Nürburgring. Only one Audi R8 LMS ultra made it within the top 10 for tomorrow's Blancpain Endurance Series finale.

Title contenders Christopher Mies and Frank Stippler qualified in seventh place. The two German drivers are joined for this special 6-hour race by René Rast on the #13 Audi R8 LMS ultra. In the championship standing, Mies and Stippler are only two points behind the series leaders. The other two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars of the team had a harder session. The #1 Audi R8 LMS ultra driven by Laurens Vanthoor, Stéphane Ortelli and Edward Sandstrom qualified in seventeenth place. The #2 car of Rahel Frey, Niki Mayer-Melnhof and new comer Francesco Castellaci was thirty-second.

Local team Phoenix Racing too faced an unlucky session. The #16 Audi R8 LMS ultra of Anthony Kumpen, Enzo Ide and Markus Winkelhock ended in nineteenth position. The sister #6 Audi R8 LMS ultra with drivers Christopher Haase, Oliver Jarvis and Harold Primat was further behind in twenty-eighth position.

Pole position went to the #84 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 from HTP Motorsport. Second the #90 Ferrari 458 GT3 from Esta Motorsport. Third the #11 McLaren MP4-12C from ART Grand-Prix.

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT will try hard to improve on track and fight for both driver's and team's titles. The 6-hour race is set for tomorrow. A live Stream coverage will be available on series official website.

FIA WEC: Audi tops the final practice session with another 1-2 at Austin

By Johan Laubscher

The second official day of the FIA WEC at Austin has started with Audi topping the time sheets again in the third an final free practice session.

Audi Sport Team Joest topped both dry test sessions with a 1-2 at the Circuit of The Americas on Thursday. They repeated that result in a wet free practice one yesterday, again placing 1-2 ahead of the competition. Toyota, with their lone TS030 Hybrid, was fastest during the second wet free practice session, followed by the two Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars.

The third free practice session was held on Saturday morning and it concluded with another Audi 1-2 at the top of the times. It was the first official session held in dry weather conditions. Audi #1 of Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Treluyer set the fastest time. They were followed by their teammates, Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Loïc Duval, in second. The gap between the leading Audis was only 0.091 seconds. Near on a second behind in third was the #8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid, followed by the privateer Rebellion Racing Lola in fourth.

Qualifying is up next at COTA, scheduled to begin at 13h00 local time. We wish the best of luck to Audi Sport Team Joest and their drivers to repeat the strong performances so far.

Super Taikyu: Team Nova Audi Top 5 and front row at Suzuka Day 1

Johan Laubscher

The Japanese Super Taikyu Endurance Championship headed to Suzuka for round six. Nova Engineering took part with their 2013 Audi R8 LMS ultra and performed very well on Saturday,  day one of the event.

Round six of the Super Taikyu had a three race format. The weekend was split into three races, each with a duration of forty minutes, instead of the normal single endurance race setup. Qualifying along with the first race was held on Saturday, followed by the second and third races on Sunday.

Nova Engineering (Team Nova) have now become a regular team in the Super Taikyu with their R8 LMS ultra. Their #8 car was driven by the duo of Seiji Ara and Shohei Yuzawa this weekend.

Qualifying was split between the drivers of each car, up to three drivers per car. Seiji Ara was able to post the second fastest time during the A driver segment of qualifying. His teammate, Shohei Yuzawa, posted the fourth fastest time during the B driver segment.

The grid for race one was comprised of the times from segment B, thus the #8 Audi R8 LMS ultra lined up fourth for race one. The second race starting grid was based on segment A and the Audi would line up second on the grid. The third and final race starting grid was a combined aggregate from segments A and B, the Audi pairing netted fifth place.

The first race was held on Saturday and the Team Nova R8 LMS ultra, with Shohei Yuzawa behind the controls, crossed the line in fifth place. Race one was won by the #1 Petronas Syntium Mercedes-Benz SLS ahead of two Nissan GTR GT3s and the sister #28 SLS in fourth.

The Super Taikyu results can be seen HERE.

Races two and three are set for tomorrow at Suzuka. We wish the best of luck to the Nova Engineering squad to continue their good form.

Swedish GT: Audi R8 LMS victory and double podium closes Swedish GT season

Johan Laubscher

The 2013 Swedish GT Championship concluded at Mantorp Park this weekend. It was another very good event for the Audi R8 LMS teams.

JB Motorsport had been unbeaten this year and they continued their good form this weekend. Their Audi R8 LMS was again piloted by Jan Brunstedt and Christer Lindholm. Only one Audi had been entered during the Swedish GT season, but a second Audi team took part in the season finale. Alfab Racing, who took part in the 2011 and 2012 Swedish GT seasons, entered their #7 Audi R8 LMS this weekend, driven by Erik Behrens and Daniel Roos.

Qualifying saw the Audis dominate at the front, as Alfab Racing took pole ahead of JB Motorsport by just 0.246 seconds. The race itself saw Alfab Racing making it a victorious comeback, as Roos and Behrens took the checkered flag. Brunstedt and Lindholm finished third in their #4 Audi R8 LMS.

The Audi R8 LMS has been unbeaten in Swedish GT this year, as all seven races were won by the Audi GT3 race car: Six wins from JB Motorsport and one from Alfab Racing.

It has been a very successful season for JB Motorsport and their #4 Audi R8 LMS. JB Motorsport took the GTA class team’s title, along with their two drivers finishing first and second in the GTA driver’s standings. Jan Brunstedt was crowned as champion with two rounds to spare and his teammate, Christer Lindholm who did not contest all of the races, finished second.

It has certainly been a tremendous year for the Audi R8 LMS in Sweden, adding yet another championship title to the Audi Sport customer racing tally.

USCC: IMSA Announces 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Schedule

Grand-Am Press Release

Continuing its commitment to revolutionize sports car racing in North America, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) today announced a 12-race schedule for the 2014 debut season.

9/20/2013 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 20, 2013) – Continuing its commitment to revolutionize sports car racing in North America, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) today announced a 12-race schedule for the 2014 debut season of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship starting with the 52nd running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 25-26.

"We have created a premium schedule for sports car fans, taking our new championship to some of the best road racing facilities in North America," said IMSA CEO Ed Bennett. "Our event lineup also underscores the cooperative spirit of the merger between the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón (ALMS). The 'best of both worlds' approach, our shared guidepost throughout the merger process, is certainly evident when you look at the 2014 schedule.

"We had many interested parties but for 2014, we only considered facilities from our 2013 Rolex Series and ALMS schedules. That was in fairness to our existing track partners, who have been such strong supporters of both series. The first TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season will feature iconic tracks deeply rich in history. We are very proud of this group of 12 facilities which have been selected for the inaugural season."

Illustrating the post-merger synergy is the fact that the 2014 lineup features four race tracks currently on the Rolex Series schedule, four that are on the current ALMS schedule and four that are on both series' 2013 slates.

In addition, preseason test sessions have been set for Nov. 16-17 at Sebring International Raceway and Nov. 19-20 at Daytona International Speedway. The test sessions will be open to all four classes of cars that will compete in the new championship: Prototype, Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona. Session schedules will be announced in the near future.

The 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship schedule rundown:

• Jan. 25-26: Daytona International Speedway … The 52nd running of the Rolex 24 will be perhaps the most significant sports car race in the history of North America, as the debut event for the new championship.

• March 15 Sebring International Raceway … The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh From Florida – North America's oldest sports car race – will be run for the 62nd time. … For the first time since 1998, the Daytona and Sebring endurance classics will be part of the same series and under the same sanctioning (IMSA). … Previously the ALMS' premier event.

• April 12 Long Beach … Longtime ALMS street race again in conjunction with IZOD IndyCar Series. … Prototype and GT Le Mans classes will compete in one of the largest and most important consumer markets (Southern California) for nearly all TUDOR United SportsCar Championship stakeholders.

• May 4 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca … Historic Monterey, California circuit considered hallowed ground for sports car racing. … On both series' schedules this season.

• May 31: Detroit Belle Isle … Also a companion street-race event to IndyCar. … Will feature the Prototype, Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona classes. … The Rolex Series has raced at Detroit the last two years; previously, the ALMS was part of the Detroit weekend. The "Motor City" is home to many of the auto manufacturers participating in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship plus numerous supplier partners.

• June 29: Watkins Glen International … The Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen endurance event in Watkins Glen, New York has been a staple on the Rolex Series schedule. … Event started in 1968 and for many years was part of IMSA's former Camel GT Series.

• July 13: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park … Historic Bowmanville, Ontario circuit – currently amid a massive renovation project – is retained from the ALMS schedule.

• July 25: Indianapolis Motor Speedway … Brickyard Grand Prix will again join the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend for third consecutive year, with Friday-at-dusk finish. … Previous two years was part of Rolex Series schedule.

• Aug. 10: Road America … Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin track has been on both ALMS and Rolex Series schedules. … Hosted historic event this season when both series raced there on the same weekend.

• Aug. 24: Virginia International Raceway … Danville, Virginia track has fervent fan following and an ALMS race next month. … Formerly part of the Rolex Series schedule. … Event will have a combined GT Le Mans/GT Daytona race and another race featuring the Prototype Challenge class.

• Sept. 20: Circuit of The Americas … Spectacular year-old road racing facility in Austin, Texas hosted the Rolex Series in the spring this season and is hosting the ALMS and FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend.

• Oct. 4: Road Atlanta … The Petit Le Mans, traditional 10-hour or 1,000 mile ALMS season finale at the storied Braselton, Georgia road course. … Event will retain its status as a link with the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With three circuits (Long Beach, Detroit Belle Isle and Virginia International Raceway) on the 2014 schedule not having all four TUDOR United SportsCar Championship classes competing, each class (Prototype, Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona) will race 11 times next season.

"This is, without a doubt, the best sports car schedule in the history of North America," said IMSA President and COO Scott Atherton. "When we announced the merger plans last year, we immediately envisioned a dream schedule, one that our industry and, most importantly, our fans would embrace. Although it wasn't easy, we feel like we have arrived at just that. There were so many options to consider and we could have added more events, but we had to ensure that we didn't over-tax our industry. So, we stuck to our plan of going with the 'best of the best' and capped the lineup at 12 events.

"This lineup will have it all – historic road courses, major market street circuits and two of the most spectacular superspeedways in the world, Daytona and Indy. And it also will have the continent's new jewel – Circuit of the Americas. Overall, a dream schedule, indeed."

FIA WEC: 1-2 Audi in Austin first practice session

By Tarek Ramchani

Actions started at Austin in FIA WEC. The first free practice session already held today with Audi leading Toyota.

The FIA WEC teams faced new conditions compared to yesterday's sunny weather in the pre-event test sessions. It was a very wet 90-minute session today at Circuit of the Americas. As was the case yesterday, Audi Sport Team Joest ended the session with a fine 1-2 with their factory Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars. The #2 car of Allan McNish, Loic Duval and Tom Kristensen was the quickest of the field with a fastest lap time of 2:03.749. The sister #1 Audi driven by André Lotterer, Benoit Tréluyer and Marcel Fassler was second, 0.7s behind their team-mates. The lone Toyota Hybrid was third, followed by the privateer entry from Rebellion Racing.

A second 90-minute free practice session is coming next at the Texan track.

First practice session results:

SCCA National Runoffs: Limitless Racing Audi R8 GRAND-AM performed well at Road America

By Johan Laubscher

The 2013 SCCA National Championship Runoffs took place at Road America this week. It was the fiftieth anniversary of this prestigious event and two Audis were entered in two different classes. The second Audi entered race was held on Friday morning and Limitless Racing showed good form with their Audi R8 GRAND-AM.

Originally three Audis had been entered for the Runoffs, including two Audi R8 GRAND-AM entries. The first Audi R8 GRAND-AM was that of Limitless Racing and Dr Jason Lee, who had qualified for the Runoffs GT2 class (SCCA GT2 class, not related to ACO GTE/GT2) by competing in the 2013 SCCA U.S. Majors this year. The second R8 GRAND-AM was originally entered by Fall-Line Motorsports for Mark Boden, however the team switched to a Porsche 911 GT3 for the weekend, thus dropping the Audi R8 GRAND-AM count to only one car. The next and final Audi car was entered in the STU class, the Continental Racing Audi A4 of Joel Weinberger. His B7 A4 is one of the ex-Stasis SCCA World Challenge touring cars.

The event normally takes place with an all-week format, as practice and testing begins on Monday, followed by the racing taking place from Friday to Sunday. Each of the various SCCA categories has one race with a duration of thirteen laps or forty minutes, whichever comes first.

Qualifying was held over two days, with two sessions for each of the classes. It was a steep learning curve for Limitless Racing, as their driver, Dr Jason Lee, had never competed at Road America before. Despite this, Dr Lee was able to put in respectable lap times and continued to improve with each session. He ultimately qualified eighteenth within GT2 during the first dry session, behind the wheel of his #08 Audi R8 GRAND-AM. It was wet during the second session, so the overall fastest times remained stagnant, but he was able to post the second fastest time of that session among the competitors that took part, despite the weather conditions.

It so happened that both of the Audi entered races took place on Friday, with the STU race being the very first race to kick off proceedings at the Runoffs, followed by the GT2/GT3 race two hours later.

The STU race was held earlier in very wet conditions. At 8:45 am local time it was a case of quattro weather and Joel Weinberger achieved a podium result in his Audi A4.

A few hours later, at 10:45 am local time, the SCCA GT2/GT3 race got underway. This race took place on a drying track. Dr Lee was able to progress very well and got up to eleventh overall on the first lap, but he would suffer on his wet tires later during the race. He was involved in a number of battles, trying to defend his position. Ultimately he lost places and dropped to twenty-fifth overall after the full-course yellow, finishing twelfth in class.

It was a good weekend for the Audi teams at the 2013 SCCA National Championship Runoffs. Hopefully the number of Audis will increase at this prestigious event in the years to come.

SCCA National Runoffs: quattro weather and STU podium for Joel Weinberger Audi A4

By Johan Laubscher

The 2013 SCCA National Championship Runoffs took place at Road America this week. It was the fiftieth anniversary of this prestigious event and two Audis were entered in two different classes. The first Audi entered race was held early on Friday morning and Joel Weinberger performed very well in his Audi A4.

The event normally takes place with an all-week format, as practice and testing begins on Monday, followed by the racing taking place from Friday to Sunday. Each of the various SCCA categories has one race with a duration of thirteen laps or forty minutes, whichever comes first.

Two Audis had been entered in two different classes at the Runoffs this year. The first entry was that of Limitless Racing, with their Audi R8 GRAND-AM entered in the SCCA GT2 class. The second Audi car was entered in the STU class, the Continental Racing Audi A4 of Joel Weinberger. His B7 A4 is one of the ex-Stasis SCCA World Challenge touring cars. Weinberger is a strong and regular Runoffs competitor. He has previously won the STU class at the 2011 Runoffs and he again performed well last year by finishing runner-up.

Qualifying was held over two days, with two sessions for each of the classes. Qualifying for STU saw Weinberger suffering a brakes issue which dropped him back, this after he had been running at the front during practice. The team managed to fix the issues for qualifying on day two, but with unfavourable weather conditions the times were not bettered from day one and he would line up ninth for the STU race.

It so happened that both of the Audi entered races took place on Friday morning, with the STU race being the very first race to kick off proceedings at the Runoffs. At 8:45 am local time the STU grid got underway in very wet conditions. Weinberger, armed with quattro, was able to progress well through the field. He steadily moved up to third, his eventual finishing position.

After a tremendous lead battle the STU race was won by Elivan Goulart in his #72 Lotus ahead of the #98 Mazda of Marc Hoover.

This finish marked Joel Weinberger's fourth consecutive STU podium finish with his Audi: 2010 - 2nd, 2011 - 1st, 2012 - 2nd and 2013 - third.

Update: The final STU results were released on Saturday, revealing that Marc Hoover's Mazda was disqualified after the post-race technical inspection, thus promoting Weinberger to second place overall in STU.

Joel Weinberger mentioned the disqualification on his Continental Racing Facebook page:

"Update Official results released for STU Class. Marc Hoover's Miata was DQ'd in post-race tech, so I officially came in P2. Sad for Marc in a way - he's the epitome of the SCCA racer."

DTM: Audi driver Rockenfeller reaches for DTM title

Audi Press Release

  •          33-point advantage: Rockenfeller can become Champion at Zandvoort
  •          Circuit on the North Sea coast is favorite track of the Audi drivers
  •          Head of DTM Dieter Gass: “Zandvoort is good territory for Audi”

Ingolstadt, September 20, 2013 – Motorsport fans are in for a thrilling weekend on the Dutch North Sea Coast. Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller is traveling to round nine of the DTM at Zandvoort (September 27 to 29) with an advantage of 33 points and can thus secure an early win of the first DTM title in his career at the season’s penultimate round.

Eight drivers, one opinion: Zandvoort is one of the absolutely favorite tracks of the Audi drivers due to the circuit’s characteristics with hilltops, fast turns and several overtaking opportunities plus the unique location in the dunes directly on the Dutch North Sea Coast. The statistics confirm the positive feeling of the drivers. There is no other track on the race calendar that Audi has been more successful on ever since the DTM’s comeback in 2000 than Zandvoort. Seven times a driver of the four rings was on the top of the podium, with Mattias Ekström, who has a total of three victories in the Netherlands under his belt, heading the list.

This year, the eyes of the motorsport fans are focused on the duel of Mike Rockenfeller vs. BMW driver Augusto Farfus, the only remaining rival in the battle for the Championship. The Audi driver is traveling to Zandvoort with a 33-point advantage and, in case of taking victory or second place, would be determined early as the new DTM Champion. Augusto Farfus has to shorten the gap to the German to a maximum of 25 points to still have a chance of claiming the title in the finale at Hockenheim on October 20.

In addition to leader of the standings Mike Rockenfeller, his brand colleagues Mattias Ekström, Tom Kristensen and Edoardo Mortara have previously entered their names on the winners’ list at this race track. The former Audi driver Laurent Aiello celebrated his early title win at Zandvoort in 2002. The two-time DTM Champion Timo Scheider started here from the pole position four times, although he has been deprived of a victory so far.

The 4.307-kilometer circuit is located around 45 minutes from Amsterdam, has been on the race calendar every year since 2001 and is considered one of the most challenging tracks of the season in terms of driving skills. Fine sand from the dunes often makes the tarmac extremely slippery off the racing line. Particularly the start-finish straight lends itself to the use of the Drag Reduction System (DRS) with which the drivers flatten the rear wing angle by pushing a button on the steering wheel. But Mattias Ekström sees a possibility in the fast combination following turn three as well: “If the system can be used there, it’lll be the most thrilling DRS section of the whole year.”

Tickets for all DTM races of the 2013 season are available at www.audi-motorsport.com/dtm. In many countries of the world fans can watch qualifying and the race live on the DTM’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/dtmint.

In Germany, ARD will broadcast qualifying live on “Das Erste” on Saturday (September 28) starting at 14:30 and the race on Sunday (September 29) starting at 13:15.

Quotes by the officials

Dieter Gass (Head of DTM): “According to past experience Zandvoort is good territory for us. Although the season has shown that the relative strengths from the previous year don’t necessarily have to apply we’re still traveling with optimism to the penultimate race of the season. At Oschersleben, we saw how a solid team performance is reflected in the various classifications of the DTM. Consequently, a good team result is again our aim at Zandvoort.”

Hans-Jürgen Abt (Team Director Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): “Our team has special memories of Zandvoort. On September 29, 2002, in other words exactly eleven years ago, we won our first DTM title there with Laurent Aiello. This year, Mike (Rockenfeller) is battling for the Championship. We’re going to give everything to support him in this. And the best way to do that is by scoring as many points as possible.”

Ernst Moser (Team Director Audi Sport Team Phoenix): “Zandvoort is one of our favorite tracks. With Mike (Rockenfeller) at the front and a good position in the team classification we’ve got our sights set on two titles. Maybe we can lock it all in right here on the North Sea Coast.”

Arno Zensen (Team Director Audi Sport Team Rosberg): “After the result at Oschersleben, we’re traveling to Zandvoort with confidence. Filipe (Albuquerque) has finally shaken off his misfortune – that’s what we’d like to build on.”

Facts and quotes by the Audi drivers

Filipe Albuquerque (28/P), Audi Financial Services RS 5 DTM #6 (Audi Sport Team Rosberg)
• Scored his first points of the 2013 season at Oschersleben
• In fourth place, just barely missed the podium
“I’ve always been fast at Zandvoort so far but have never been able to clinch a real result. For my team and me, things are going better and better, which gives me motivation for the next two races. The podium continues to be my aim.”

Mattias Ekström (35/S), Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM #11 (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline)
• Celebrated his first DTM victory at Zandvoort on September29
• Won the race at Zandvoort three times and was on the podium eight times
“Thinking about the track at Zandvoort immediately puts me in a good mood. I really like driving there. In addition, I’ve got many positive experiences, for instance my first victory many years ago. In the race back then, a brand colleague celebrated his Champion’s title at the same time – that would be a nice combination this year again.”

Jamie Green (31/GB), Red Bull Audi RS 5 DTM #12 (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline)
• Was on the podium at Oschersleben for the first time as an Audi driver
• Has scored points in 56 percent of his previous DTM races
“Zandvoort is one of the fastest tracks on the calendar where you can make really good use of the RS 5 DTM’s aerodynamics. There aren’t many circuits with such characteristics, so I particularly look forward to his race every year.”

Miguel Molina (24/E), Audi RS 5 DTM #20 (Audi Sport Team Phoenix)
• Has scored points in the past two races of the season
• Together with Mike Rockenfeller is battling for victory in the team classification
“Zandvoort is a great place. I’ve got fond memories of the track because that’s where I managed the leap into the last qualifying segment for the first time. I’d like to continue the upward trend of the past few races.”

Edoardo Mortara (26/F/I), Playboy Audi RS 5 DTM #5 (Audi Sport Team Rosberg)
• Won the race at Zandvoort last year
• Achieved his second-best result of the season at Oschersleben
“After the relatively decent race at Oschersleben, I’m hoping for us to make the next step at Zandvoort and to finally put the streak of misfortune behind us. I won at Zandvoort in 2012 and have often raced there at other events as well. Now we’ve got to manage a flawless weekend and then we’ll achieve better results again too.”

Mike Rockenfeller (29/D), Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM #19 (Audi Sport Team Phoenix)
• Is the only driver in the field to have scored in all of the 2013 races
• Is starting the penultimate race of the season with an advantage of 33 points
“Zandvoort is my favorite track. I’m looking forward to the race with huge anticipation and would obviously like to win the Championship there as well. Although you can’t force that to happen we know it works: We’ve got to do our job with high concentration and then see if that’s enough or not. If it isn’t, then we’ll just be experiencing a hot finale at Hockenheim. But with Zandvoort being such a great track, which also suits us well, I‘m traveling to the North Sea coast with guarded optimism.”

Timo Scheider (34/D), AUTO TEST Audi RS 5 DTM #23 (Audi Sport Team Abt)
• Has started from the pole position an amazing four times at Zandvoort
• Has finished in the top five five times in the Netherlands
“I’ve got so many memories of Zandvoort. For instance, I’ve clinched four pole positions there – but not a single victory. That’s quite a bit of unfinished business for me. It would be nice to finish it this year with the positive momentum from Oschersleben. I’m very much looking forward to Zandvoort because it’s my absolutely favorite track.”

Adrien Tambay (22/F), Audi ultra RS 5 DTM #24 (Audi Sport Team Abt)
• In fifth place, scored his first DTM points last year
• Most recently, finished in the points three times in succession in the 2013 season
“At Zandvoort, I took my first-ever DTM points last year, so I’m pleased to return to this venue. I’ve finished in the top ten three consecutive times most recently and want to continue this string at all cost in Holland.”

2012 flashback: Audi celebrates one-two-three win

39,000 spectators saw a spectacular DTM race in extremely difficult conditions. Rain showers from the nearby North Sea kept sweeping across the race track that was never wet enough though to switch to rain tires. In a tough duel, Edoardo Mortara prevailed against Mike Rockenfeller, who had taken the lead at the start and commandingly controlled the race for a long time. The Audi one-two-three win was perfected by Mattias Ekström. Across several laps, the Swede fought a thrilling duel with Mercedes driver Gary Paffett which he, not least thanks to a good strategy and quick pit stops by his team, decided in his favor.

Adrien Tambay about Zandvoort: “In Formula 3, I had some problems at Zandvoort, so I arrived there with mixed feelings last year. But in the end, things went well for me. In a hard race, I was able able to keep Bruno Spengler and Martin Tomczyk behind me and score my first points. That was a great relief for me and like a small breakthrough in the DTM. In the Audi RS 5 DTM, the track at Zandvoort is really good fun. I think everybody knows the Tarzan corner at the end of the start-finish straight. It’s cool too. But my favorite section is the fast downhill double right-hand turn at the end of the track. This sector is extremely fast and very bumpy. You drive at the limit and get adrenalin surges. I like that! I suppose the old, long track must have been similar. I’ve watched onboard footage of my father – very impressive but dangerous as well …”

Thought for the Moment - On Activism, Agitation, and Feminist Donkeys

If the feminists want to convince me that they care about men more than I do, they must submit to a pretty keen interrogation. And they had better pass that interrogation with flying colors. Otherwise, they can STFU on the theme of "you don't care about men, you're just anti-feminist."

If the feminists think they've got male human rights all sewed up, and if they pretend to understand those things better than non-feminist men do, then they are a passel of conceited jackasses. And to my mind, jackasses are good only for pulling the plow or hauling cargo under direction. So the feminists must take direction from the farmer - that's us! Do you reckon they'll cooperate? Or do you reckon they'll bray like asses and kick like mules?

There is no way you can genuinely care about men if you are not working to defeat or diminish feminism in some form. They who attack feminism, and they who undertake "good works" of pro-male activism, must be players on the same team. And which is more, they must understand this and respect each other.

It is self-defeating to merely work within the feminist regime in order to secure benefits for men. That is a beggarly policy all around, because you are begging for scraps every step of the way, and even if you secure these, your hold upon them is tenuous because one force or another is apt to snatch them away at any time.

Feminism is an earthly power whose legitimacy we dispute, and the only way to meaningfully "help men", in the long run, is to bring about feminism's collapse. Yes, it is true that activistic good works will weaken the feminist power structure, and I do not mean to depreciate such efforts. But such efforts ALONE will not suffice. Along with activism, you must have counter-feminist agitation.

People who say "you're just anti-feminist", as if that were a bad thing, are hauling water for the feminists. Jackasses working for jackasses. Ironic, isn't it?

Fitness Friday| 100 Days Until Christmas

100 days till christmas countdown exercise and workout plan

The title of this blog post is 100 days until Christmas, however it is in fact 97 days till Christmas, but with such a big mile stone it really is the perfect time to reassess where you are and make plans so that you are where you want to be come the big day!

For me Christmas 2013 is my big goal for my health and fitness, it has come around a lot quicker than I thought it would, however this gives me the perfect excuse to kick it up a notch! I want to feel (and look) the best I can for Christmas, so starting this week I have been making a more conscious effort to eat healthier and workout more smartly. A few of you have asked what exactly are my plans, so I thought I would share them with you.

Fitness Plan

Workout twice a day 5-6 times a week; Cardio in the morning and toning/strength in the evening.

For cardio I aim to run for at least 30 minutes or skip for 15. Cardio is perfect for the morning as it not only wakes you up but it also kick starts your metabolism meaning you burn more calories throughout the day compared to if you haven’t worked out… who doesn’t love burning calories while sitting on your bum!

For strength and toning I use trusty YouTube and DVD’s since I’m a none gym goer. I spend quite a bit of time searching YouTube for workouts to do during the week. This next week I plan attempting to complete at least 2 of the workouts below, if not all three each day. However make sure you listen to your body and don’t strain yourself!

Sunday- LEGS-

The Podium Effect 2 Min Glute Workout  &    Tone Up-30Day Butt Lift   Love Your Legs Workout

Monday- ARMS-

The Podium Effect 1 Min Arm Workout   &   Bridal Babe Workout    Toned Arms Workout

Tuesday- ABS-

The Ultimate Fashion Blogger Workout   &  The Podium Effect 2 Min Abs Workout   Jessica Alba Ab Workout

Wednesday- LEGS-

MaliBooty Workout    Tabata Butt 10 Min Workout    How To Get Legs Like Jennifer Lawrence

Thursday- REST

Friday- ABS & ARMS-

Rapid Abs Workout     Strong & Sexy Upper Body 20min Circuit Workout

Eating Plan

Eating is always where I struggle, sometimes my willpower isn’t strong enough to battle my cravings, so I always eat every couple of hours to ensure I am never hungry. I find that if I am hungry I tend to binge on unhealthy food. So everyday I have three small meals and two snacks. A typical day will look as below;

Breakfast- Greek Yoghurt with banana, chia seeds, coconut & honey or Overnight Oats or Two Ingredient Pancakes

Snack- Nuts or Nakd Bar or Green Smoothie

Lunch- Tomato & Mozzarella Salad or Tuna/Chicken Salad or Sweet Potato with Tuna or Humous and Carrot Sticks

Snacks- Protein Milk or Nuts or Fruit

Dinner- Chicken and Vegetables or Fish and Vegetables

Occasional Extra Snack- Greek yoghurt with honey or Meringue Cookies or Banana and Nutella

I hope this post gives you some idea of my routine over the next few months. It is by no means a suggestion that this would work for you, I am not an expert so cannot advice you personally, only give you an example of what works for me.

How are you planning to meet your goals in 100 days times? If you want to feel your best for Christmas and New Year you need to start now!

Be sure to check out Becci’s gorgeous blog; Only Becci- full of yummy food, amazing recipes, beauty and life.
