22                  Shootings 2012 saw the horror in Sandy Hook. I am sad to say that there will be more of these terrible events in 2013 and beyond. They won't stop till the powers that be come to their senses and change the law. It will take for one of their own loved ones to be amongst the victims, to trigger the change, I'm afraid.

TOLD YA EDL strike again......

These two groups who both believe in the same hatred, need to be watched very carefully. They have big plans for 2102. Which will in the end show the World, and those who follow them what they are really about. They will continue to use the political of fear to advance their agenda, but thankfully will fail in the long term.

Historic Racing: Audi A4 DTM arrives at Road America for the HAWK

By Johan Laubscher

The HAWK was held at Road America this weekend, an annual vintage racing festival which always attracts a huge entry list. Among the entries there was one very special Audi.

North American vintage racing is very healthy with a number of series, organisers and annual festivals/events. In recent years the Audi R8 LMP900 / LMP1 race cars, now run by private teams, have regularly been seen in historic racing.

At the HAWK this weekend there were no Audi R8 race cars, but there was the first appearance of another ex-factory Audi race car. A 2006 Audi A4 DTM R12 plus made its American vintage racing debut at Road America. The car is one of the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline vehicles from the 2006 DTM season, and is an ex-Mattias Ekström car.

The car is now driven by Eric Johnson and prepared by ANSA Motorsports. It was entered in Group Ten of the vintage racing categories at the HAWK.

This is just one of a number of Audi A4 DTM race cars which have ended up in private hands. They (2004-2007 versions) have been seen competing in many countries, including Germany, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland etc, and now also North America. It is always great to see the older race cars still competing, be it in active racing championships or in vintage/historic racing.

Superstars: Audi Sport Italia wins race one in Portugal

By Johan Laubscher

It has become a Sunday to remember for Audi Sport Italia. Earlier this morning they took victory in the first Italian GT race at Imola (Sonvico and Capello in an Audi R8 LMS ultra) and now they have again taken victory, this time with Gianni Morbidelli at Portimao in Portugal.

Audi Sport Italia has gracefully handled a tight logical challenge this weekend. A clash between the Italian GT at Imola and the Superstars in Portugal has left the team spread between both events. Two Audi R8 LMS ultra at Imola and one RS 5 in Portugal.

Despite the clash Audi Sport Italia took pole and victory in race one of the Italian GT, and they have backed this up with victory for Gianni Morbidelli in Portugal. Morbidelli qualified on the front row in Portugal and capitalised on the strong starting positions by converting it into his third race win of the season. A Sunday to remember for Audi Sport Italia.

Two more Audis are also taking part in Portugal. Adria Raceway is fielding two of the ex-Audi Sport Italia RS 4 (B7) cars. Their drivers Jonathan Giacon and Alessandro Battaglin finished race one in ninth and tenth respectively, ensuring that all of the Audis finished within the top ten.

Race two will take place later this afternoon, and we wish the best of luck to the team and Gianni Morbidelli to repeat the success.

Italian GT: First 2013 victory for Audi Sport Italia at Imola

By Johan Laubscher

Audi Sport Italia has put all of their bad luck and misfortune behind them by scoring a sensational victory at Imola today.

Round four of the Italian GT Championship is at Imola this weekend. Audi Sport Italia has overcome a logisical challenge by dealing with a calendar clash, Italian GT at Imola and Superstars in Portugal. Despite the clash both Audi R8 LMS ultra cars are at Imola.

Qualifying for the first race yielded pole position for Dindo Capello and Andrea Sonvico in the #4 R8 LMS ultra, followed by their teammates Alex Frassineti and Johan Kristoffersson in eighth. The first race saw Capello and Sonvico leading at the front and they came home for Audi Sport Italia's first race win, in a 2013 season which has proven difficult so far. Their teammates moved up to fifth by the end of race one.

The second race will take place later this afternoon, where the #4 Audi will start from fifth and the #5 Audi seventh. We wish the best of luck to the Audi Sport Italia team and drivers to continue their good form.
