ADAC GT Masters: Audi will fight for driver and team titles at Hockenheim

By Tarek Ramchani

Hockenheim is hosting the season finale of the ADAC GT Masters. No less than seven Audi R8 LMS ultra cars will represent the Audi squad in the event.

With only two races left, Audi is still in contention for the driver title. Christopher Mies and René Rast are fifth in the overall standings. The two Prosperia C Abt Racing drivers have 128 points, after some race wins and bad luck with their #27 Audi R8 LMS ultra. They are 33 points behind series leaders, and Corvette Callaway drivers, Daniel Keilwitz and Diego Alessi. At Hockenheim Rene Rast and Christopher Mies will have no choice other than to win. The two Audi GT aces must score big points and hope that the other Audi R8 LMS ultra entries will help and take vital points from the their rivals.

Prosperia C Abt Racing is leading the team's standing with 199 points. The Audi customer team are 9 points ahead of Callaway Competition Corvette and 11 ahead of PIXUM Team Schubert BMW. Prosperia C Abt Racing can count on three Audi R8 LMS ultra at Hockenheim. In addition to Christopher Mies and René Rast with their #27 Audi, the team also has the #26 car of Rahel Frey and Christopher Haase and the #28 car of Christer Jöns and Markus Winkelhock.

MS Racing will have two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars. The #1 Audi for Sebastian Asch and Florian Stoll. The sister #100 will be driven by Daniel Dobitsch and Aditya Patel. THE BOSS YACO RACING will have a single car, the #16 Audi with drivers Philip Geipel and Frank Schmickler.

The seventh Audi in the field is from Phoenix Racing. The team has raced in the German series in the past, with some great performances and results. At Hockenheim their #49 Audi R8 LMS ultra will be shared by Nico Verdonck and Enzo Ide. Both drivers are from Belgium. Ide is no stranger to Phoenix racing, as he has competed in both the FIA GT Series and Blancpain Endurance Series with the Nürburgring based team.

Two qualifying sessions are set for Friday. Race 1 will be held on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday. We wish the best of luck to all four Audi teams.
